I have seen lots of posts recently asking how to change the format of screen capture in Mac OS Tiger.
The simplest solution is to download and install OnyX.
When it is installed, open it.
Choose whether to verify S.M.A.R.T. status and whether to Verify Disk. When those processes are done, type in your password (you need to be in an Administrator account).
Go to the Parameters pane, General tab and select a Screen capture format (PNG, TIFF, JPEG, JPEG 2000, PDF, GIF, PICT, BMP, SGI, or TGA). Select a default name and a default save location, then click Apply.
Quit OnyX.
From now on, screenshot settings will be as specified, and you can always change them using the same process.
