Apple TV LED blinking amber non-stop, no video, no audio

As described in the header, my Apple TV (120GB) has its LED blinking amber non-stop, no video, no audio. It is about 2 months old and I have never had issue with it before.
The manual says this indicates that it is starting up, but I can tell you, it is not starting up.

Is the light only blinking amber? White and amber mean bigger problems. See what apple says.

If all you are getting is a bad booting, try running a diagnostic.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305190
Also, if you give it a reboot (unpluging), leave it unplugged for a good 30 seconds to a minute. I bet there could still be power to the logic board, and you need to let the internal led bleed it dry otherwise the internal memory can cause some problems.

Light is only blinking amber.
The box responds to no input at all, so I cannot get to the diagnostics screen.
I have unplugged and attempted reboot several times.
I think, based on some other reading, that the HD is dead.

I am having the same issue. Light flashes amber for ever. Was this finally resolved as a bad hard drive?

Yes, that's exactly what I got. Applied 2.0 update, Apple TV rebooted a couple of times and now I all I get is blinking amber light and the machine is dead in the water. Apple support site tells me to head to a Apple Store for support. Just great. Machine has worked great for months, apply the update and now its dead.

Same thing here...Apple TV worked great. Loaded the update and now it just flashes amber after 30 minutes. I was using 1080i output prior. Was anyone else using this setting?

Pull every cable out of the tv, leave for 30 seconds and power up again. Do you see any change.

Pulled the plug and all leads for 30 minutes plus. Problem still there. Worrying, repeating clicking sounds from within. I'm guessing the HD has passed away. RIP.

Mine does the exact same thing. Sounds like a dead hard drive but I doubt it as it worked fine before, the drive is young and others report the same. I also removed the apple tv from iTunes but even itunes doesnt recognize it to mount and restore it.
This upgrade should be avoided until all the kinks are worked out...

Yes I was using 1080i as output before machine died. Sad really, I was looking forward to the 2.0 release. Now I'm looking at long drive to an Apple Store.

Indeed my Apple TV has worked perfectly until I applied the 2.0 update. Hoping an Apple contact might shed some light on why machines are now crashing.

I had this problem the other night and here is how I corrected:
1. unplug unit
2. after 1 minute plug back in and hold the menu and button for 3 seconds.
(unit should reboot and go into recovery mode)
3. In recovery mode, run diagnostics and if passed then perform factory resotre.
4. Problem should be resolved - resync with iTunes and perform 2.0 update.
Good luck...

Sorry, still just blinking amber light. Never gets past startup and so doesn't accept any commands from remote.
