Moving iPod from PC to Mac

I just got my wife a new MacBook Pro and I am going to get rid of the Dell Inspirion. YEAH! Question: if I plug her PC formatted iPod into the new Macbook Pro will it reformat for the Macbook? Also, what's the best way to move the music files between the two (copy to CD)?
Thanks,
Chris

Question: if I plug her PC formatted iPod into the new Macbook Pro will it reformat for the Macbook?
No it won't, Macs can read Windows formatting. Macs can read Windows formatting so you should have no problem connecting your iPod to your Macbook. I've no experience of the iPhone or iPod Touch but one proviso is that up until now Apple has only fully supported using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac. What this means effectively is that if you need to apply a firmware update for your iPod and you wanted to maintain the Windows format you would have to do it on a PC. If you were to try and update a Windows based iPod on a Mac it would be restored and reformatted to the Mac file system and have the Mac firmware installed. If the iPod is only going to be used on a Mac in future you can restore it on the Mac once you have moved all of your music
Also, what's the best way to move the music files between the two (copy to CD)?
There is a good general guide to switching from Windows to Mac at the following link that touches on moving music as well: How to Move to a Mac - Get your stuff from your PC to your new Mac
There are also these guides:
Networking with a Windows PC
How to copy purchases between authorized computers
Don't forget by the way if you have purchased any tracks from the iTunes Music Store to deauthorise your old PC if you are disposing of it so you don't use up your 5 allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

So, it seems the logical thing to do is:
1. Deauthorise and copy the iTunes library from the PC to CDs
2. Plug the PC iPod into the MacBook Pro and update the software (that will convert it--theiPod--to mac friendly).
3. Copy the music from the CDs to the MacBook's iTunes library.
4. Sync the iPod.
