Unable to load Movie Rental to iPod

First, Thank you iTunes for the new rental feature. Awesome. I downloaded "Dodgeball" to my Mac--I'm renting it. When I tried to load to my iPod 5th Gen 60GB, I get a window saying that this iPod is not supported. Any thoughts? Comments? Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Standing by.

Found the answer in the iTunes for Mac thread.
Here's the link:
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/01/15itunes.html?sr=hotnews
Near the bottom of the link you get this fateful news:
""*Movie rentals work on iPod classic, iPod nano with video and iPod touch.""
How neat! I have a reason to buy myself one of these hot little puppies. Sorry for the sad news for people like me who don't have the recent models. But heh! Come on now...you've been just itching for a reason to get a new model Hope this helps.

I attempted my first rental as well and this is what I experienced. I have a new nano. First off, had to go thru "rent" process twice. Second time it took but didn't have to put in password, it just worked. Once on computer, it could not be found in itunes. I tried "add to library" and that did not work either. I found the file itself in itunes/itunesmusic/movies folder and double clicked that and then it did show up in itunes along with a new "rented movies" in the left pane. However, when I plug in my nano to synch, the movie cannot be found. It is not under movies. I suspect there should be a tab for rented movies to make a synch selection.

Hi Thomas,
The only thing I would suggest are the following:
First, make sure iTunes is up to date. Then run an update on your Nano. Even in the event it is updated, then run the update again...just to be sure:)
Next, I would eject the Nano, close iTunes and restart your Mac...many a miracle has happened by doing this. The computer gets to take some time to 'digest' the new updates
If all goes to according to plan (cross your fingers), you should see your rental in iTunes under the Rent tab. You should be able to drag and drop it on to your Nano. The rented movie should download to your Nano with the familiar 'download' wheel a turnin, along with the status in the iTunes status window (at the top of the window).
One more thing. I don't use synch. Things get a little out of control for me when I have the synching on. I'd rather 'manually' drag and drop. I can see what's going on. With that said, I too had to take a couple of takes before I got the "Italian Job" on my new 80GB Classic. I can't answer the question if there is a tab for the rented movies for synching. Remember this is brand new territory for everyone, I find it helpful to "expect" a few glitches. For example, last night when I was watching the "Italian Job" the movie faded and cut out at 2'20", right after all the intro credits. So I just fast forward to 3' and had no problems from there. I suspect when I was downloading it I was fooling around on iTunes and may have caused a hiccup in the download process. Bottom line...I'm really happy with this. Sorry for the long rant. Hope you get things going. Keep checking out this forum and Apple support...you'll find your answer. Good luck.

Thanks much.
I updated software (Thought it was up to date) and the movie showed up in a new special rental section under the movies tab where you can "move" it to your ipod. Working great. However, I am not able to select chapters which I thought was a feature. Perhaps with just certain movies?? Nonetheless, working now. Might experiment moving it back to computer to see what happens, maybe even to another iPod.

Why on earth would they not make this service available to 5th Gen. iPods?? Mine is less than 6 months old!! If all of the other services are available for the 5th Generation Video iPods, why not rentals?? I have a tough time believing it would not be technically feasible.

I get that 5th-gen ipods (like my 7-month-old model) don't support movie rentals. Could someone at Apple explain why not?
