My point is that there was good reason for removing the thread.

As you are not affected by the "ELP" issue it doesn't surprise me that you feel this way.
There were plenty of suggestions and various temporary fixes as well as info from those who have
had direct communication and/or attempted repair by apple on this issue, all of which could prove useful to someone new to the issue saving them some time and frustration if nothing else.

The "ELP" thread could have been pruned to include at the very least those posts that provided somewhat helpful info but to delete it all together with no fix or formal acknowledgment the issue even exists only serves to further frustrate those of us affected.

In fact I think we should stop this incredible fanatism, as I wrote weeks ago, many people in Italy says: it's your fault, you don't press well the keys, they are great, they are super, I'm gonna buy my iphone, my itv, my airport and so on...

That's why we don't have any consideration.

Apple almost always has done the right thing.

I used to work for Apple Customer Relations before they took it in house. We always did what was right by the customer. Always.

This is a tough bug to solve.
If they would just keep us in the loop I would be satisfied.

I have faith that Apple will do what is right in this case. They just need a gentle nudge.

The fact is that if you pay over 2000euros, you wouldn't be very gentle, after several months... it's tough but they have to find a solution, even change it with the newer Penryn model, if needed, it's their problem.

Hello All. I spent 3 hours on the phone with an Applecare product specialist last Friday. He sent a report to engineering and got a quick response. According to him, Apple acknowledges the problem and will fix it in 10.5.2 or 10.5.3.

I looked through the list of bug fixes rumored to be in the 10.5.2, the rumored 400 MB software update rumored to be coming soon. I didn't see a fix for this problem listed, so I'm afraid we may have to wait for 10.5.3. That's not what I'd like to happen, but it is something.

I'm as upset as anyone. On the other hand, this is the first time I've bought and used Applecare and I'm amazed at how hard they try to do right by the customer. They replaced the logic board, mainly because I suggested it. (It didn't help.) And when I had a hardware problem and had to send it to Houston for repairs, I mailed the box at 3:30pm on a Wednesday and had the repaired computer back in my hands at 10:30am Friday.

By the way, I've tried most of the remedies suggested in the old thread, except dancing naked while holding the MacBook upside down. Turning "Delay until repeat" to Off in preferences helped noticeably, but didn't cure the problem.

So... I'm hoping for a fix in 10.5.2 but am afraid I'll have to wait for 10.5.3.
Maybe if we all cross our fingers...

Jim

Thanks for the update ... It makes me feel hopeful.

Can others report their AppleCare contacts and results?

Thanks ... Ken

I reported in the other thread that, while talking to a product specialist regarding another problem, I mentioned the keyboard issue and he stated that he knew Leopard included a keyboard driver that did not work and that they were working on it.
