iTunes U for educational establishments in the UK

Hello!
I'm studying various content delivery methods as part of my final year project at the University of Teesside in the UK.
iTunes U seems really exciting. It'd be great if my University could offer this service.
Do you know if Apple plans to roll out the service in the UK in the near future? Is there any reason why Apple has not yet done so, despite its clear benefits? What would make Apple more likely to include the UK in this venture?
If you can help with any of my questions, or have any information about iTunes U for the UK, I would really appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Helen

Hi Helen,
I've been to a couple of seminars at the Apple center in London and brought this subject up
( I work at a University myself ) and at present the answer is NO ( what a surprise ) or very cagey with their replies to my question. I think we 'will' get it but not for sometime.
Hope this helps.

Anyone heard anything further on Apple offering iTunes here in the UK? Or a contact within Apple to ask for it? Would be a great offering for me to give to our staff and Students.
Thanks,
Glynne

Seconded: some way to contact iTunes U to discuss creating some content from a UK HEI would be good.

Well, as of this morning here we are!! We (UCL) and the Open University become the first UK institutions on iTunes U. You'll note from the revised iTunes U Store page that Trinity Dublin join us from Ireland and that there are a number of institutions from Australia and New Zealand.
Nice to be on board!

Hi Mimram
How you do go about getting your university to make podcasts available on ItunesU ? Any hidden surprises e.g. costs etc ?
Thanks

I think there's a waiting list. The costs are your time and resources. There's a legal agreement with Apple, but no charge for the service as such.

Hi Mimram
Many thanks for the reply and links. what do u feel are the implications of distributing the content through itunes ?
Did u decide to distribute lectures throught itunesu? or was this a central university decision?
