iTunes 7.6.1.9 import - last track on CD cuts 6 seconds short

Just upgraded without incident to 7.6.1.9 (with regret now...).
Imported multiple CDs and noticed that on ALL of them that the LAST TRACK ONLY on each CD is cut 6 seconds short (eg if compare time of MP3 with time on the CD)
Tried on 2 different DVD drives on my system and with reboot. Same problem.
Checked CDs added BEFORE this upgrade. They are perfect.
Therefore this would seem to be a bug in 7.6.1.9
Any others could check this please?
LAST TRACK OF THE CD IS THE ONLY ONE WITH PROBLEM.

I'm having the same problem on my fast, (15x - 20x iTunes import speed), CD/DVD drive. The last few seconds of the last track of the CD are getting cut off after I upgraded to 7.6.1.9. I'm importing to AAC 256 kbps with VBR, and I've got the error correction turned on. I didn't have this issue in 7.6.0.29, or earlier versions of iTunes. The problem doesn’t seem to occur on my slow (6x - 9x) CD/DVD burner, so it may be related to the speed of the drive.
This is a pretty serious bug, so hopefully it will be fixed in the next release.

Thanks for checking! I was just logging back in to see if anyone else noticed the same.
I import into 192 kbps MP3 and now tried 3 drives. Some issue
Oh well, I guess I won't bother importing a CD unless there's an update, or use a non-updated machine on my network and import via that machine
What a pain....I used the iTunes feedback thing (Help --> Feedback or something like that) to report it. Hopefully it won;t take long. They seem to have a %@#$@% update to iTunes every other day...
One thing I noticed it DID fix was a very annoying 'hang' issue where I would run iTunes, and it would respond normally for only 15 seconds, then it would 'hang' and be unaccessible for about a minute or two. This version just keeps going, but Won;t bother importing until the next one.
I guess I'll leave this 'unanswered' since there's no workaround yet and no solution

Agreed. Unless you happen to have access to a slow CD drive, there is no workaround for this problem. That being the case, I hope they treat this as a critical issue and release a fix for it ASAP, since you can't import CDs without losing part of the last track.
I was able to confirm that the problem is related to the Import speed used in iTunes. On the "fast" drive I described above where I first saw the problem, I imported a CD which the drive had trouble reading the final track on the disc. The import rate dropped from 18x to about 10x, and the track imported without any noticeable truncation. However, anytime I use the same drive and it's able to import the final CD track at a high speed, I see this issue.

I'm having the same issue, and didn't notice it until today. Considering the volume of CDs I import on a regular basis, this is going to be a real pain - I have to go back now and figure out when I upgraded, and what I have imported since then that will need to be fixed. Frustration! C'mon Apple, fix this issue.

Simplest way is to make a smart playlist on basis of 'Date Added' and is greater than Feb 25 2007 (I think was date of the update) and it should pluck them out for you. That's what I did.

Thanks for the idea, I was able to fix the affected albums (all 8 of them... groan).
Do you know if Apple monitors this board, or does something need to be done to notify them of the problem? I tried navigating their support page and it seems to be the typical setup to deflect you in every possible way from actually contacting them.

I'm not sure if they monitor this, but anyone can launch iTunes then select
Help ---> "provide iTunes Feedback" and report the issue there
PLEASE DO! I did and the more people who complain about it, the more likely they are to take note and fix it.
I tried to fill a formal bug report elsewhere on their site and you have to be a registered developer and have a code, use a standardized format for the report, so I didn;t do it there

Done, thanks for another tip. I hadn't noticed that in the menus before, but I'm glad to help the cause. I buy and rip so many CDs, this is going to be a bit of a pain for me - right now I'm ripping the last track to .wav with another program and then importing it into iTunes, converting the .wav to .m4a. It's pretty tedious and adds about 7-8 minutes to my total time to do the rip (especially since I have to manually enter all the track info - Gracenote doesn't understand what album the .wav file comes from).

I hear ya! I got about 15 new CDs this week and stopped ripping after about 5 when i stumbled on the problem (admittedly buying a lot lately...my addiction is bad...I'm Jonesing) but I usually average 4-5 a week.
I thought of using another program, but I'll wait. I think I still have MusicMatch installed on my system if I need to rip one 'urgently' and import the whole CD - doing a 'one-off' for the last track only is worse!
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't compare to 'real' problems like , say, cancer, or world hunger, but it is an annoyance for sure.

You and I have the same addiction, it sounds like. If my office knew how much of my work day is dedicated to browsing CDs online, ripping CDs I just bought, and reorganizing or backing up my iTunes library... well, I would at least have some explaining to do.

Has anyone been able to downgrade? Will it mess up library file? Will a Windows system restore dfo it properly. Seems there are other 7.6.1.9 issues (CD burning errors reported by other users)

Unfortunately, the iTunes installation program won't let you install a version that's older than the one you already have. If you try, you’ll get the error message:
"A later version of iTunes is already installed
Installation of this version cannot continue."
Hadn’t thought about trying to use the Windows restore, but I may just wait to see if a fix comes out in the next week or so. I'm right in the middle of importing my entire CD collection, (about 1,800 discs), so needless to say this is a showstopper for me.

Perhaps this has been reported already, but I did not see it. There is workaround for this problem using iTunes. Import the last track in AIFF format,, then convert it to a compressed format. (I used AAC High Quality.) The track will then not be truncated.
