Trackpad and Boot Camp/Vista Still Broken

I just wanted to get this topic more exposure. I know it's been discussed before here, but I just talked with three different techs, with one going up a level, and none of them knew of any issues with the tapping feature and/or scrolling while using the trackpad in Vista/Boot Camp.
I was told it can't be that much of a problem if no one is even aware there is a problem. Could it be that only a few of us are experiencing problems?
Does anyone out there have a MBP, Leopard, and Vista/Boot Camp running and have a fully functional trackpad while using Vista? Or doesn't anyone care that they have to click instead of tap, scroll erratically, and avoid accidental input while typing?

Yes, my trackpad scrolling behaves so erratically that it is totally useless. I also have major issue with the LCD screen brightness control dropping to 50% brightness already on 2nd highest setting.
I would not had bought Mac in the first place if it didn't have boot camp. Since they advertise boot camp as a major selling point Apple really should offer better support for it.
What is the proper way of raising support issues with apple? I mean, the kind of that gets inputted in proper issue tracking system, instead of being just whining in forums.

I'd like to add what must be a standard complaint - right clicking using two fingers causes insane scrolling to occur in many situations. I've noticed it mostly in tree controls.
This alone renders Bootcamp a half-finished piece of rubbish - it really is unusable without plugging in a two-button mouse.

So what's the answer?
I have tried an older version of Parallels and wasn't completely happy. So I junked it when I did my fresh install of Leopard. Is it better now? Or is that VMware solution worthwhile?

Same problem here. I have a MBP with Vista Home Premium installed. Everything seems to work great except the annoying trackpad scrolling/can't click with tap/need to press button to right click. I wrote feedback to Apple on this. They are minor details but not really in the sense that they do affect the user experience significantly.
I can't believe Apple hasn't fixed this.

I also have the same problem. The trackpad is only usable for moving the mouse and left clicks. Both two finger scrolling and right mouse button controls are virtually useless. With the same downward two finger motion windows scroll in both directions and jumps from top to bottom. In lists I'm unable to two finger right click because the list scrolls to a different item before I can click the button.
Very disappointing. I tried both the latest Parallels and VMWare trial versions and the trackpad works flawlessly.

There is another thread on this issue. It has been ongoing for many months.
Yet nobody from Apple seems to have a clue anything is wrong? What's up with that?

is apple doing this on purpose? i am sure they are aware about this as it is a common problem for many people. Why they don't try to fix it or at least give an official answer to this? If they can't do then they shouldn't start the whole boot camp project and advertise that you can simply install and run windows if there are so many unsolved and annoying problems.

Thanks for bumping this to the top. I am frustrated that there seems to be no solution. Typically a post to these forums brings out the real experts and there is a solution posted. Not on this one.
My problem are the same as described above. No keyboard or trackpad functionality unless I role back to a standard/generic driver. The Apple drivers are loaded find from Leopard but the following error appears next to them in device manager.
"Windows cannot initialize the device for this hardware. (code 37)
I really don't know where to look for a solution. Would love some advice or direction.
Thanks

Add one more Boot Camp user to this list. Trackpad problems are as follows:
Vista
1. No tap (single or double) to click functionality
2. Erratic two-finger right click response. I thought it was a feature where placing one finger THEN then next gave you page down. But I think it's just erratic
3. Two finger scroll is useless. It's all the way to the bottom or nothing.
OSX
1. I set my bluetooth mouse to operate left handed - cuz I'm left handed... Now the track pad switched button - note singular button Now the one button is right-click and to left-click I have to hold 2 fingers down on the trackpad!!!
2. Erratic two-finger right click response.
The only reason people think Macs have fewer problems than PCs is that there are fewer people using Macs.

I'm also having the same issues with windows xp in boot camp.
The two finger scrolling feature is just too sensitive. Even with the click wheel setting in windows set to the minimum of 1 line per wheel click it is still too fast to be usable.
It would be great to get this added as a configuration option in boot camp or perhaps the trackpad could just send less "clicks" to windows so the click wheel setting in windows doesn't bottom out before having any useful effect.

I just wanted to bump this up. I use XP on Boot Camp every day without a mouse. This is VERY VERY annoying. I'm so happy I paid almost $3000 for a laptop that can't right click or scroll properly.

I have the same issue and I am starting to regret my switch from PC to Mac. I know all the touchpad features work in VMware Fusion and I noticed it uses it's own driver VMware Pointing Device. If it works there, someone already figured out the problem. Anyone that knows computers better than me know how to copy that driver from VMware and use it in boot camp? I will try calling VM ware support on monday and see what I can find. I don't think that we can rely on Apple to help us PC guys make the transition.

I'll add my voice to the complaints. I have the same insane scrolling and twitching when using two finger right click. Very disappointing that nothing is happening on this.

Adding my vote too; trackpad tap should click. Tsk, Apple. You should know better than to let us down like that.
As far as the scrolling, there are several things one can do. First, slow down scroll speed in the windows mouse dialog. Second, install Input remapper. It allows you to adjust the scroll speed and scroll acceleration to whatever you need. I got mine to work OK. Still no horizontal scroll, though.
... now only to get that tap-click fixed...
