Keynote export to Quicktime - no sound

I have a recorded voice track in my Keynote presentation that exports fine to Flash, but I get nothing in any Quicktime format. I have Keynote 4.0.3 and QT 7.5. I hear that this may be a problem with the QT 7.5 update and reverting back to 7.4 will fix it. If this is so, how do I go back to 7.4?

Just to clarify, when I export to QT, I get video just fine, but no audio. No errors either.

I have the same problem (wouldn't you think it would be an absolute no brainer for exporting from one Apple program to another??? If anything, would seem more likely to not get the narration in Flash version. Were you able to solve this?

I have also just tried to Export Quicktime from Keynote - and even the Custom Export options don't allow the audio track to export.
Wondering if I can use third party software to grab the visual and audio when playing back the Keynote and grab it that way. Snapz Pro X Movie doesn't work - works fine when when out of presentation mode - but then cuts out when you hit play and the screen goes black.
Any other workaround ideas?

I am having the exact same problem and hope my post will us a solution. BTW, I read that Snapz Pro X will let you record if you go to preferences and click "let others use the screen."
I can export to flash with sound but the quicktime export has no sound track.

Thanks Lori for your trouble in replying - but I don't seem to have that option in the preferences of my SnapZ Pro X 2.12. It would be great if this did work.
My latest solution is to export the video from Keynote without sound. Then run the Keynote show - while grabbing the sound with WireTap Pro. I then use the previous version of iMovie 6.03 (I seriously dislike the new version!) to marry the video and audio and trim any extra audio off the start.
It's a big fiddle - but at least it works!

Add me to the list of frustrated Keynote users here. If the problem is with QT, a quick patch seems to be in order. This is a lingering issue with a key function of the program.

I agree with this sentiment about Apple doing a patch.
Lori's post was nearly right in a workaround, which I have finally managed to resolve. It's not Snapz Pro's pref's that need changing but Keynote's, thanks for the lead :
Go to 'slideshow' tab in Keynote preferences
then put a check in the box - 'allow Expose, Dashboard and others to use screen'.
Now you can use Snapz Pro to capture the movie. This gives you a host of compression options and you can save MPEG, which is better than what we are trying to achieve at the moment.

Same problem here! Export to any format failed by not entering the sound. I Use QT pro Version 7.5 (149.5) on Mac OS X 10.5.4 and with keynote 4.0.3. Opening the exported .mov in QT Pro says: Sound not readable.

For what it's worth, I downgraded to QuickTime 7.4.5 and now when I export KeyNote presentations to QuickTime the sound comes across along with the video. A seemingly workable solution until Apple updates QuickTime again...

Argelius, how did you downgrade to QT 7.4.5? When I try to do that it won't let me install an older version even after I thought I deleted all the QT 7.5 files. Thanks for any help.
This QT export could be a very powerful feature if Apple gets it working properly...

Downgrading Quicktime - here's how to

I've just downgraded my Quicktime to 7.4.5 and I'm happy to report that the audio export from Keynote now works again.
I (almost) followed the instructions on http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/using_pacifist_to_downgrade_quicktime.html. However, it wasn't sufficient to replace only what's in "Components" and "QuickTime" (step 5). So I selected the whole "System" folder and that did the trick.
Hope it works for others, too.

I didn't get a chance to respond sooner. I did exactly what Sebastian described. Works great now. I also chose to hide the QuickTime update from "Software Update" so I don't accidentally reinstall 7.5. Hopefully, with the next QT update, this issue will get fixed.

I have figured out a solution that worked for me. It is a hacky way to do it until Apple gets there act in gear. Frankly, it is a little embarrassing that they use "Voice-over recording" as part of their promo on the apple site when it isn't even working.
Anyway, on to the temporary solution.
- Once you are done your voice recording, save keynote, and close the program.
- right click the keynote file and find the narration audio file. right click and duplicate it, then drop the duplicate file on to your desktop
- reopen the keynote file and in the inspector, drag the narration audio into the "soundtrack" section. Basically, you've now made the narration track the "soundtrack"
- in export to quicktime, only choose to include the slideshow soundtrack, not the slideshow recording.
- export and enjoy. It has worked for me, I hope it works for others.
