IPhone 2.0 ical calendar colors

I just installed iPhone 2.0 and all went really well, perfect in fact. Thanks Apple!
The best part is that iCal on the phone now has my various calenders in different colors so I can tell what belongs to what group. The problem is they are not the same colors that I have set as in iCal on my mac. for example I have a calender called holidays in my iCal it is dark gray but in the iPhone the color is orange.
Can I change the color on the iPhone to match what I have in iCal? I have looked around and not found a way to change the colors, if any one knows please let me know.

I'm having the same problem. There does not seem to be a rhyme or reason as to how the calendar colors are assigned.

Amen! Please help Apple. It almost seems counterintuitive to make the calendars different colors if they're not going to be the right color.

It is almost like half a feature if you can't control the color of the calendars. Very strange.

they will show up in the right colors if you sync them OTA with MobileMe.
I'm not sure why they dont show up correctly when iTunes syncs them

I am annoyed by this, too. I can not sync via mobileme yet, so let's hope you are right that OTA syncing will resolve the color problem.

I have a different odd issue on the calendar sync since I upgraded. I have three different "calendars" that sync to my phone. One is my actual appointment calendar. Another is a US Holidays calendar that I synced to through iCal. The third is a birthdays calendar that is generated from the birthdays entered in my address book.
The first time I synced it showed that I had three calendars but only my appointment calendar actually had data in it. The second time I synced the US Holidays calendar populated with data. However I have synced a few more times and I can't get any of the data to sync over from my birthdays calendar.
Other than that everything else in 2.0 is great. It all seems to work so much faster. Also location services work better with this software than they did with the earlier software even without the GPS functionality.

I have the same complaint. Though this is something that's so obvious, I'm guessing it's just a bug and not a half feature or anything.
Then again, I also thought the inability to sync iPhone Notes with Mail's notes was also a bug or minor oversight. It's amazing how sometimes Apple just leaves out blatant things that you'd expect to be there and work.
I still love iPhone 2.0 (so far!).

I can attest that this calendar color label issue resolves itself once MobileMe starts syncing. My calendars all have the same color I assigned to them in iCal.
How this gets fixed if you don't have MobileMe, I don't know. The fact that it sort of works (OTA) but not fully (via USB) tells me that Apple probably overlooked getting the details worked out on the USB sync side and mostly focused on the new cloud syncing. Logic would follow that they will fix this eventually.

Well here is what worked for me, 1st off I have no intentions on getting the mobile me, and it bugged me the colors were not syncing. So... what I did was noted what colors my iPhone "assigned" my calendars. Then I just changed the colors in my iCal to match them accordingly. Of course in iCal you can do this by clicking on the small "i" at the bottom right corner of the iCal. This opens that side "to do" panel and you can click on the color which gives a drop menu to change the color. At that point I changed those colors to match the ones my iPhone chose to "assign" I hope that helps. And I'm shocked Apple missed this bug.

Thanks, Scott, for posting this. I'm experiencing the same issue, and am eagerly anticipating a fix from Apple.
I don't want to change all my iCal calendar colors to match the iPhone assigned ones (as one poster suggested) because the colors I use for my color-coding system are meaningful, and changing them would mean retraining my brain. I think it will be easier to wait for the software to get fixed.
