Can't make purchases since update

Since the update to 2.1 I can no longer purchase TV shows (and movies) on the Apple TV. It goes as far as a page where it shows terms and conditions where I choose Accept and then says the apple store is no longer available... can anyone shed light on this?
My computer that the Apple TV is synced with is in the apple store getting fixed so I'm just using it as stand alone.

Panny, same thing happened to me. I fixed it by trying to buy something from iTunes on my iMac, got the same terms and conditions message which I was able to hit 'continue' on my iMac screen, then 'accept', it thanked me for updating my terms and conditions. Then I went back to the ATV and that message no longer appeared and I was able to rent again. It appears the ATV warning screen doesn't give us the option of hitting the 'continue' button before the 'agree' button. Try this, all will be well.
Brian.

I just fixed this problem a few minutes ago, unfortunately, you need iTunes on your computer.
When I was making my purchase on my Apple TV I got a screen with new Terms and Conditions so I hit Agree but then I got an error that said the iTunes store was no longer available and to try again later. I tried to purchase a few things and no matter what I still got the erroe. I then tried purchasing the same thing in iTunes on my Mac, I got the new Terms and Conditions again, hit Agree, and everything went through just fine. I then tried to purchase something else from the Apple TV and everything went through fine.
Apparently, that new Terms and Conditions screen on the Apple TV isn't working too well for some of us.

Thanks for the replies.. I suspected this might be the case... very frustrating as I can't watch any TV or Movies till I get my computer back!
This is not great for people that use Apple TV as a standalone!!!

Same problem here - I knew I should have tried my first ever iTunes purchase before I upgraded the Apple TV! Purchasing through iTunes won't help me, because I wanted to try out an HD rental...
...guess I'll have to hunt down a 79p short film rental (I'm in the UK) and use that to kick my account into life. And fingers crossed because I'm about to find out if my HDCP-compatable DVI Samsung really is HDCP compatable!
I was beginning to think it was due to all the problems with the iPhone 2.0 activation and the servers getting swamped.

Yes, it seems to be fixed - I just made my first ever iTunes purchase straight from the Apple TV. And the rental movie played back fine on my DVI-only Samsung LE23T5, which is a relief.
