Calendar no longer synchronozide
Posted: Jul 12, 2008 8:56 PM

Since updating my iPhone to 2.0 and iTunes to 7.7, I can no longer synch calendars in Outlook 2007. Things I add to on the PC are not copied to the iPhone and things added to the iPhone (to Outlook calendar) are not copied to the calendar. This is a disaster for me, anyone have any ideas to fix this?

Same problem/disaster. After 4 hours on the phone with Apple support, Apple has no answer. (First my Outlook calendar loaded to 2 iPhone calendars: Home and Outlook. After a reset, my Outlook calendar won't load at all to iPhone, period.) Apple product specialists are apparently working on a solution. No ETA. Does anyone have good advice?

Just a question, did they get you to try reset the sync history?

Or even better try going into another user account(make one if needed) and sync the iPhone with calenders, it will allow you to merge but it shouldn't matter if they are all under the other username. Once thats done go back to the orignal username and set it to sync the Iphone, it should say its synced with another itunes and if you want to replace or merge, do merge if there are calenders on the Iphone not in outlook, otherwise do replace. See if it will transfer them all over.

Yes, reset the sync history about 5 times. No luck.

Set up a new user account, with 1 fake calendar entry, and it synced fine.

This means there's something about my Outlook PST that doesn't work with iPhone 2.0. Possibly size--it's over 1GB...

(For anyone else having this problem, check that all your calendar events show as IPM.appointments or iPhone 2.0 won't sync. See http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1465?viewlocale=en_US for guidance.)

Will try your solution below! TBD.

The same thing happen to me. All you have to do is delete most of your recurring events. For some reason the recurrence events/appointments stop the calendar from syncing. Before you delete the recurrences, write them down somewhere and then add them as regular appointments. After I did this my calendar sync to Microsoft Office with no problem.

Thanks! Lucky you. No luck for me (after uninstalling/reinstalling itunes, 2.0 et al) (and cleaning out all recurring events, making sure they have near end dates et al). But iPhone and Calendar aren't talking at all. Having a spat. Wish for a "level 3" techie with a magic wand.

Is anyone else totally unable to synch 2.0 and Outlook calendar?

I am having the same problem. Unable, since updating to 2.0 iphone software and iTunes 7.7 to get my calendars to sync with one another. Which, like most people, is kind of a catastophe. Hopefully an update is available soon that corrects this problem. Is there any way to figure out if Apple is workign on this? And/or suggest that they do if they are not "aware" of the problem or its severity yet?

So sorry we're all having the same trouble.

Spent about 3 hours with Apple support today, to no avail. No fix, which surprised Apple as much as it did me. The Level 2 tech filed an RTA (Request for Technical Assistance) with the serious powers that be. I begged for escalation to a 2 day fix (not a 5 day one). With any luck, we'll have an answer Tuesday.

Otherwise lets beat the drums!

I am sorry to hear so many are having this trouble, I was kind of hoping I was being stupid and missed a setting somewhere.

Whackokitty, I have my fingers crossed you can find an answer for all of us! We greatly appreciate it!

I had the same problem. Just deleted all Recurring items from Outlook and this solved the issue.

Same problem with Calendar entries made on Iphone not appearing in the Outlook 2007 Calendar. Calendar entries made using Outlook do appear on my Iphone when synched. If I go the the search function for the Outlook calendar and enter the appointment name from the entry on the Iphone the appointment is shown in a list view. It is not shown on any other calendar views (day, week, etc). If I click on the appointment in the list view and select a catogory for the appointment then click save the appointment now appears in the calendar view on Outlook 2007.

This is a very inefficient way to handle keeping your calendars in sync. This is a major problem for Apple given their push to have the Iphone adopted by large corporations, most using Outlook. I hope Apple has a fix shortly.

RPMKY.........that is the same exact problem that I am having!!!

Records entered directly into outlook 2007 always appear on my iphone 3g, however records entered into the iphone do not appear in the day/week/month view in outlook. However if i search for the record in list view or a general search in outlook, it shows up in the search results list.

I must have wasted hours thinking outlook was somehow filtering them out from the calendar views, but now i think it's an apple issue, in terms of iphone setting something in the record behind the scenes that excludes it from the calendar views.

I hope apple fixes this asap!!!

I also have the mysterious "Home" and "Outlook" calendars and iTunes seems to have randomly picked certain events to stick into the "Home" calendar.

Most of my events do sync, but several are missing from the iPhone.

this is very annoying.

I have the same problem. It appears that anything entered into the calendar before the iTunes 7.7/iPhone 2.0 upgrade syncs just fine while anything I've entered onto either calendar (phone or outlook) doesn't sync at all.

Things I've tried:

1. Restored iPhone
2. Reinstalled iTunes
3. Upgraded the .pst Outlook file from 97-2002 format to the larger .pst file format that started with Outlook 2003.
4. Ran the fix utility for .pst files and it came back fine.
5. Ever combination of home & outlook calendar settings in the info tab of iTunes.

No matter what I've tried, it just won't sync the calendar correctly. Everything else seems to work great.
