I thought the problem it was with my aiport extreme base station, and I bought a Time Capsule 500GB, but the problem still going on. I don´t have problem with the same connection trough pc, playstation and iPhone.
I hope apple could change this very quick.

I spoke far too soon. After about a week of reasonable service, the problems are back, and are as bad as ever. Instead of the "roaming beacons lost" message on the console, I now get this (a typical extract):

Note that the iMac will go through this cycle, from link down to link up, without human intervention. It's done it three times as I've typed this report. As ever, my Wintel laptop holds a connection on the same router, rock steady for days.

Edited to update my profile to 10.5.5

The only way to get my iMac wiresly connected to TC is to use 802.11n only (5ghz) option, as soon as i change to b/g compatible or 2,4ghz i am starting to get password time out problems. I would be happy if not iPhone does not support 5ghz, so i can not use iPhone as Remote to control music.

This is like that already for HALF a year.

Apple do you read discussion forums EVER?

I've worked out what changed. I put my briefcase, containing a Blackberry, at the base of the stairs, 15 feet away from the computer, about 15 feet off the line of sight from the computer to the router. The syslog on the iMac shows the network dropping off approximately every 150 seconds, which I guess is the frequency at which the Blackberry polls its network (does anyone know any more about the Blackberry's network protocols?). I've now moved the briefcase another 20 feet away and the AirPort link is much more stable, just as it was after I changed the wireless network config a couple of weeks ago to avoid a conflict with a neighbour's network. So it's probably interference, and some pretty poor software from Apple, because my Wintel laptop can hold a connection rock-steady on the same router in the same conditions.

I'd be grateful if others would check to see if their BB or GPRS phones have the same effect. I'll reintroduce my BB later to see if I can replicate the problem.

I also am experiencing the same problem.
Am ringing tech support tomorrow, though it sounds like this might be a waste of time? In any case the support is free as my mac is still under warranty.

Really annoying problem - only had my imac a month and everything was running great until very recently I get this problem with the wireless. Have tried every solution suggested here including reinstalling leopard.

What a nightmare!

Changing wireless encryption to 128-wep seems to have worked for me (so far!!! fingers most definitely crossed).

Thanks for tip off.

I would suggest anyone who this is applicable to should try this.

Same problem here, it as been 6 months and nothing... I tried all the tips to solve the problem, some make the signal stronger but it goes back to loss of signal after a while.

At least in windows the patches work.

After rebooting my iMac a few times, Airport Extreme Update 2008-04 is working a lot better than the last few releases. I stay online a lot longer now. I've been tweaking my wireless router settings also...moved the channel back to 1 and set my beacons back to 100. I do still get the occasional drop in signal, but it's not quite as chronic as before. Before I upgraded my Airport Extreme Update 2008-02 back in June or July, I NEVER dropped signal. The past few months have been a wireless nightmare. This latest 2008-04 firmware is not perfect, but it's better than the last 2 updates. If you guys haven't tried this one yet, give it a shot. I know for a fact that Apple does read these forums, so post your issues and workarounds here.

Buying a new Router did NOT fix the problem. I bought a Wireless N Gigabyte router to replace my wireless G/B router. Sadly, didn't work. Looks like this 100% apple issue. I'll be returning this router.

Hopefully Apple will get their heads out of their ***** and fix this.

I have seen a lot of attempted solutions and workarounds posted on here ... I am thankful for all of the help people give, and I'm glad they work fore some people. Nothing works for me, though. My workaround has been to buy a USB adapter.

I have found a really good solution, and am confident it will work for all users here.

Install Windows on your mac.

Didn't work for me. I've had Vista installed ever since I've had this new iMac. It kind of defeats the object too if you're suggesting we should run windows for wireless apps ~ the security *****.

My iMac is still hard-wired via ethernet which I think is still the best workaround given current issues.

Don't get me wrong...the Airport Extreme Update 2008-04 did NOT fix my problem, but it did make it a lot better than the 2008-03 update. I've downloaded Onyx and cleared a bunch of caches, and even booted up from my install disk to use the Utilities features, fix permissions and repair disk....still no luck. Same issues. My wireless signal keeps dropping....just not as frequent as is was with 2008-03 code. I don't run Windoze on mine, and refuse to.
