I hope this is not true -- service going down for a few days

An interesting article here....

http://www.tuaw.com/2008/07/21/are-you-affected-by-mobileme-mail-outage/

I hope it is not true: "....MobileMe email is going to be down for 2-3 days, and that it's the whole system, not just the 1% as noted on the support site."

On the whole I think I must be one of the lucky ones as the service is working well for me, apart from a few small issues that I can live with while they hopefully fix it.

It is interesting, but .... really ..... it's a rumor passed along by a reader at TUAW. The rumors there are generally just about as accurate as the ones passed around here.

I'm also in the 99%, btw, but then again it seems like I always am. I keep noticing the strangest litle factoid, however: None of the people or names I'd recognize as having been around for a considerable length of time are reporting any difficulties in MM — at least none aside from the ones that are or have been affecting everyone (contacts in Mail, Account page still NQR, etc. — the list has been long).

What I can't decide is what that actually means. Either all of them, and I, have been lucky enough to have missed all of the outages or it's just a matter of knowing that kvetching about things like that here in these user-to-user forums is essentially a total waste of time, that yet another "Yeah, me too!" post in a thread or threads already full of them contributes nothing.

I'm a 1%er (which is bull). I am glad when I hear that MM is working for alot of people...it gives me hope. I think alot of folks who are in the same boat as I am (no email for 3 1/2 days) don't come to this forum anymore because they know that until the server is fixed its just "standby to standby". We'll all know when its working the minute we log on to me.com and our mail is there...simply as that.

It is true that most people come onto forums to complain/seek assistance so it is hard to gauge how many are happy with the service.

I think they (Apple) have a way to go on fixing the web interface (features appear and disappear -- indicator in mail icon on number of unread emails; No access to address book when creating a mail message; auto completion of an email address comes and goes; accounts upgrade features disappear/fail....)

Using my iPhone and Mac it works well and I do not need to access webmail too much -- I feel sorry for those who need access to webmail more often.

As an already paying customer, I'm pretty damned annoyed that the web interface hasn't worked for mail for me since last week Wednesday. I've been part of that lucky 1% far too often since they launched.

Yeah, I could use my iPhone, but I like having a real keyboard for the bulk of my emailing.

Of course, there's no way to get a refund that I can find, either.
