Airport Extreme Firmware Update 7.3.2 no longer connects to internet

Automatic Updates recommended Airport Extreme Firmware Update 7.3.2, which I accepted (BAD). The Airport Extreme does have a green light, but CANNOT connect to the internet. Cannot "Check for Updates" with Airport Utility (option key down) because I cannot access the internet. Airport Utility shows 7.3.2, but nothing lower. Is there a location on the mac where the older driver resides?
Numerous restarts, resets, etc with both the Cable Modem and Airport Extreme and my MacBook do not help.
How do I download 7.3.1? Can I? How can I revert?
I can access the internet from another network, hence this email.
Any suggestions would help!

1.) Open AirPort Utility (in your Utilities folder)
2.) Select the offending AirPort Base Station.
3.) Select the "Base Station" menu and select "Upload Firmware"
4.) Select the version you want to upload and click "OK", the rest should be self-explanatory.
Good luck though. If your problem has anything to do with mine, reverting firmware version may not work

This has happened to me three times. The latest was yesterday; 21 July 2008. A call to my Internet Provider yielded no help. The 2nd Apple guy I spoke with solved the problem right away. I was directed to use a paper clip to "re-set" the router by pressing and holding the small button on the rear of the router "IN", while the green light turned to amber, and then began flashing. A restart of my computer, and then the selection of Finder-Applications-Airport Utility started the process by which I filled in the blanks and was back on line in short order. The tach guy said that this has become a common problem, and that Apple is working on a permanent "fix". Good luck!!

I've got the exact same problem as Gordon, for the same reason (accepting the automatic firmware update), and I tried both troubleshooting suggestions from Weilishu (sp?) and Bama, with no luck. I've also restarted/reconfigured both my computer and my airport extreme many, many times. Does anyone know if there are any other possible workarounds? (Any idea when the fix will be available?)

I have a similar problem, but my airport extreme has a blinking yellow light and Airport Utility cannot find any of my wireless devices, including my airport express.
This is what I receive when I run the Airport utility and scan for Apple wireless devices:
"Airport Utility was unable to find any Apple wireless devices. Please make sure the Apple wireless device you want to set up is plugged in and in range of your computer, and then click rescan to try again."
Well both are plugged in and they are in range. But I cant find airport extreme or my express. Please help. I should have never done the update I guess.
Thanks.

I bought a brand new Airport Extreme Base Station (hereafter referred to as "base station") and tried to set it up this past weekend. RoadRunner Broadband is the Internet service provider (through one of the cable companies, Insight, in our area). The cable modem is from RCA, and the cable installation itself was the very first one done for the house in which I live.
This was the very first attempt at using my MacBook Pro to connect to the Internet wireless or otherwise. It was my understanding that the first thing to do was to connect the cable modem to the base station at which time it should "pick up" the Internet connection and other information from the cable modem. I was expecting the indicator light of the base station to change from a flashing amber to solid green color. That did not happen.
When I opened the Airport Utility program on my MacBook Pro, it found the base station, initially, and let me enter configuration settings for it. However, when selecting to "Update" those settings, the action failed. That's when the experience became drawn out and turned out to be very dissatisfying overall.
The cable technician who was on-sight ran through various tests and confirmed that everything was fine on their end. He also thought that the base station should "go green" once connected to the cable modem prior to running any software to make specific configuration changes to the base station. His job was done so he went along his way.
Numerous restarts of the MacBook Pro along with restarts of the cable modem and base station worked to no avail. I, too, encountered problems where the Airport Utility program informed me that it couldn't find the wireless device that was sitting two feet away from the computer. I even erased and reinstalled Mac OS X--how about THAT for fun?
Ultimately, I had to connect a cable from my MacBook Pro to the base station using one of the available ethernet ports. Also, I installed the Airport Utility software and reinstalled it in order for it to "find" the base station. Once it found it (and using the wired connection), I was able to configure the base station, create a wireless network and get Internet connectivity (wireless).
However, the performance has been miserable (very slow) and unreliable even when using the computer in the same room as the base station. Connecting to the base station while using a cable works better, but not by much. Chances are I'm going to return the base station--particularly if I can get another device working as a substitute. I'm going to work with it more this week and try other things with the base station (e.g. changing to a different "channel"), but I'll be surprised if things improved.
Also, I took my laptop to a local Panera Bread that has WI-FI and was able to get on to their network without a problem so whatever problems I'm having at home appear to be related to the Airport Utility software and the base station, primarily. What's in my house (security system, wireless cameras, etc) and my working knowledge of the subject may also be factors but to what extent they're having on the network remains uncertain at this point in time.
This experience and those of others, apparently, are not helping to promote the de facto slogan that "it just works". Apple needs to address this problem ASAP.

If you can access your base station via Airport Utility then you can downgrade to 7.3.1 which should fix the connectivity issues that Mac Book Pro users have had when using encrypted wireless connections. Select the Airport and choose Manual Setup. On the status page click the firmware and you should be able to change it to 7.3.1 if you had installed that one previously.
