So is it worth getting the 3GiPhone or not?
Has anyone not had any problems?????

I absolutely LLOOOOOOOVE my iPhone 3G. i have no light leakage or slanted sleep/wait button my vibration button is not loose and i get Amazing 3G reception here in freehold new jersey. It is defiantly worth getting i know i was a little skeptical too but once i picked mine up i realized it was the right decision.

It depends what your needs are. We're getting ours this week now that they are staying in stock in the stores. My friend up north just bought one this morning and he's loving it so far.

Stop reading this forum.
This is a help forum which is designed to talk about problems only. The million or so satisifed users aren't going to post here.
The reception here in Michigan is awesome, no problems with my original iPhone nor my 3G. I love it.
Google other iPhone forums and read through those if you want to hear about the good stuff, in addition to just the complaints (for the most part) you will read here.

Two points:
1) Yes, I do love mine.
2) This place is a "technical hospital"

so when i get my phone in a hour or so, what is the first thing i need to do?
Check firmware? how do i do that? If i need to upgrade how do i?

PS - the update did nothing that I could see that made mine better/worse.

well after they activate your phone at the apple store just go to setting-> general-> about then check to see your version number if it is 5A345 then just do a regular restore. if not then just sync up all of your stuff and your good to go

I love my iPhone EDGE. I dont have a 3G... but I do love my iPhone. I've been one of the many who have been struck by the serious bugs in iphone 2.0 firmware, the infamous stuck at reboot problem. I've restored several times, and I hate every minute when my iphone isnt working...
But i do love the iPhone, as much as anyone should love hardware. I mean it has a lot of potential and its constantly improving... But it is full of some serious problems right now. I expect them to be fixed soon, but i'm also a bit annoyed that Apple released 2.0 in such a screwed up state.
In general i'm very happy with my iphone despite the bugs because i know in time they will be worked out. Apple has no choice in the matter. It is within their interest to make sure the iPhone is as successful as the iPod. I just hope the fixes and features come sooner than later.

I got a white 16gig and a black 16gig for my girl.
I heard the white was nice cause no fingerprints. So should i go with the white or black???

i second that.
as soon as they release 2.1 or even if they release a 2.0.1 there will be major bug fixes such as lag and what not
also hope to god for copy and paste although it's not a big issue for me
