Have you repaired permissions? It is best to do this after an upgrade; preferably both before & after.

Almost same here: After update says "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Airport Express". an unknown error occurred (-3256). Nothing other has changed since, only upgrade to itunes 8.

What version of firmware do you have on your AirPort Express? And I'm looking for a number here, not "the latest". :-)

Just updated my iTunes as well and tried using Airtunes to connect to my AppleTV (v 2.0) and I got the error message "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Apple TV". An unknown error occurred (-15000).". I tried the repair permissions trick you mentioned and that did not help. I also have an older G4 that has the previous version of iTunes on it and it is able to connect to the Apple TV via Airtunes and play music...

Mac Mini with itunes 7.7.1 still works with remote speakers. Must be an issue with itunes 8.

Here almost the same. Same error code. MacBook Pro with iTunes 8 doesn't work. The earlier version of iTunes on my Powerbook still streams to the Airport Express. (Version 6.3 too).

Activate iTunes in Firewalls "incoming connections". This works here.

SokratesKS:

What error code were you seeing before you changed the firewall settings?

I saw <unknown error occurred (-3256)> - it is an error which occured in iTunes 6.0.2 as well an refers to the udp-Connection. I changed Firewall settings an it worked.

Same issue here. After the iTunes 8 install I get an unknown error (-3256). Wlan works seamlessly, no issues before I installed iTunes 8.

Problem persists even if iTunes is added to firewall list.
