Since this forum's guidelines are very strict, and I've been censored twice in less than 10 minutes, I'll play by the book, and I'll ask my question in a technical manner to other users, without enticing them to act in any way.
About my problem, I called AppleCare but they reassured me that Mac Pros built after 2007 are fine (so 2007-built Mac Pro owners may or not have concerns) but they couldn't send me an e-mail with this information.

I would suggest finding out if your Mac Pro is emitting benzene at an unsafe level. There are a number of products on the market that can help you with this. I found some by using a Google search. If after testing you find that your Mac Pro is actually causing an issue, contact Apple.

Thanks, however those devices that can be found on the Internet are professional grade, and are too expensive for me, especially considering how much I paid for the Mac Pro, and that the burden of proof is not upon me.
Maybe it would be easier if the people with the smell/toxic fumes problem would tell here when their Mac Pro was built, or it if it was built in China or California, so maybe we could link the problem to a specific series of Mac Pros.
Mine is early 2008, and it doesn't have a specific smell, however I'm quite sure that most of the volatile toxic gases don't have a specific smell. (Benzene isn't the only concerned gas in the Mac Pro problem, even though it is the most dangerous, because it can lead to leukemia. This is disturbing. I have many macpros around me, from work to home and i'm on it all the time. I have to think back and i don't remember any smells, except from the packaging. the toys i get for my son smells really bad and we tend to say away from toys made in china.
so now its macs?
i think Apple needs to address this, and fast.
i bought my macpro 8core in aug2007.

Well unless you have some evidence that your Mac Pro is actually producing benzene or other toxic gasses, I don't think that Apple is going to do anything for you. Perhaps a local university might have equipment that you could use for testing? Or if there is a government agency that does such things?
Best of luck.

Seeing as how I have a Mac Pro that was probably built in early 2007 this is extremely disturbing. If the computer is emitting benzene that's not the issue really, it's how much? If the levels are so low it's not dangerous I wouldn't care, but it would be nice to know.
How / where can I look to see if this computer was made in China?
If you search for "Mac Pro Benzene" on google it's all over the net...

I wouldn't worry about it. Benzene is a remarkably mild carcinogen, and there is no evidence that low levels are a concern. High levels, yes, but not small amounts. If one wants to worry about benzene, then of greater concern should be other carcinogens that we consume in much greater amounts every day. In particular, oxygen is an extremely powerful carcinogen (can't live with it and can't live without it!), plants are loaded with carcinogens (chemical defense against predators, intermediate metabolites, and signaling molecules), and ethanol (so much for beer, wine, and liquor).

Hi Rob-Chemist;
Party pooper!
Seriously, I was going to add a comment here like yours but you beat me to it. If they are really worried about this, they will not die of cancer they will die from worrying.

FWIW, Apple has stated in response to the article that they have no evidence that a Mac Pro contains and/or can emit benzene fumes, though they're investigating.
Benzene can be found in outdoor air which may contain low levels of benzene from tobacco smoke (if you're a smoker, you are getting quite high concentrations), fueling your car with gasoline, and exhaust from motor vehicles. In addition, products such as glues, paints, furniture wax, and detergents can also be a source of exposure. It's even been shown that benzene may be created as part of a chemical reaction during production of soft drinks, particularly those having an orange flavor. So the possibility of emissions from a Mac Pro is probably the least of one's worries.

I got my Mac Pro (Dual Xeon 3.0) 1.5 years ago. At first I noticed a sweet smell in the computer every time I turned it on. After a year or so the smell started to fade and now every time I turn my Mac Pro on, the smell is very vague and is hard to smell.
I prefer not to be poisoned by Benzene.

My 2008 Mac Pro (I bought it in February) definitely has a strong chemical odor to it. It smells a bit sweet and seems to be strongest after startup. I called my local service shop and they said they had never heard of such a thing. I have even complained to my wife that I felt a bit uneasy after using the computer for long periods. I guess its time to call the shop again and insist on them taking a look. The problem is, they will charge you for the checkup unless they find a problem—even if you have apple care.

So it is up to the user now to prove that there is a problem?
Would dying do?
What if the toxins take too long and the Mac pro is then out of warranty?
If the users died in time to use the warranty, would Apple recognise the user's estate's claim?
