New MacBook connected to external VGA display screen flash.

Just got the 2.4Ghz yesterday. For home use I've got it connected to a Samsung SyncMaster 2032NW display via the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. Occasionally the display will go dark for a half-a-second or so and then come back on. It happens randomly, not for hours sometimes and sometimes multiple times over a shorter period of time. There does not seem to be any repeatable action that causes it to happen, it appears to be completely random. This does not happen when I'm using the built-in screen. And I didn't have any problems using the Samsung display with my older MacBook.
Should I take the computer back? Is there something I can do to check the hardware for issues?

Glad that I am not the only one have this problem
Got the latest macbook aluminum yesterday and hook up to my Dell 24" monitor (2407WFP-HC, 1920x1200 resolution) through mini-displayport to VGA adapter. I also kept macbook lid closed and plugged in the USB keyboard/mouse; so that I can use the external monitor as the only screen. The monitor randomly goes black with a message saying "Entering power save" and then after a second comes back fine.
I am not sure but I feel it happens more when I open new windows, although there are times it happens while I was doing nothing than reading a web page. There is no problem with using the built-in display without external monitor.
Any help would be appreciated!

Following up...
I'm still seeing this flash occur sporadically. I won't happen for hours and then it will happen a few times over a short period of time. I also had it happen while I was running Vista (just installed) under boot camp so it's not related to my OS X installation as far as I can tell. I can also not find anything I'm doing that seems to trigger the screen flash, it's really random, out for half-a-second then back on. I'm glad (I guess) to see at least one other person with the same issue.
What to do?
My first Mac was a 512ke

I installed bootcamp to try in windows XP and still no signal so it must be driver or dongle related. I ruled out the TV or cable as the problem. If it is both our dongles then either Samsung half implemented VGA support or the new display port to VGA is not working right.

Same here. 2.4g macbook. I have a powered vga splitter going to a 40" toshiba LCD and a samsung 22" monitor. At first I thought it was the screen going to sleep and tried to change the settings, but then realized it was happening randomly--just goes off and comes back on. Strangely, it has all now stopped. I mucked around with the resolution settings and maybe that is the difference. I now have it set at: 1360X768 60 hz and it seems to be fine. My guess is that it is early growing pains with the new port and adapters.

Same problem here, with a 22" Sceptre display. Seems to happen only if I am "doing something" on the computer, but not if I am just sitting watching something on the computer. Very intermittent, and annoying. Only lasts for a few seconds, and then it's back to normal.

same here with sporadically blanking display (Dell 2407 WFP at 1920x1200 at 60Hz). Has anyone using DVI or dual link DVI experienced the same problem?

I haven't had the screen flash off for more than half-a-second or less. It sometimes seems to be happening more frequently when I'm doing something (surfing or typing). Though increased activity is not making it happen more often consistently and it does sometimes happen when the computer is basically idle or the screensaver is running. It's really annoying when it decides to happen several times over a short span.
I love my new MacBook please tell me it's not broken!

So here's more info. Aparenty it is a power issue. Either Displayport, or the new NVIDIA does NOT have enough power ( or the adapter ) for the monitor.
I realized my new t240hd shows NOT enough power message, but if I check on the macbook, it already sees the monitor with no problem. I can even change the resolution even it is not displayed on the actual monitor.
Checked connecting my 42" plasma though VGA, works.
Checked my 17" monitor, works.
Not the new one with higher resolution.
Helllooooo, Apple ????

I wonder if a PRAM reset would help, or if users reset their monitors to default settings if that would help?

Same problem here.. At first I thought it might be my new Samsung 2032 but I feared it may be a problem with the new MacBook. I tested it on my old MacBook Pro and the screen was fine.
Anyone have an idea or solution for this problem? It certainly is very annoying due to the irregularity in when it occurs.

I get this problem when using VGA, but it doesn't happen when I use the DVI connection instead.

The fact that VGA users appear to be the only ones affected makes me happy, sadly. Call me crazy but I am thinking about buying the forthcoming LED Cinema Display. So this VGA flashing thing will be a temporary annoyance. Still it would be nice to know there is a fix for VGA users out there somewhere someday.
