Latest OS X Airport update Broke connectivity

I have an AEBS connected to a cable modem. Connected via ethernet is an AE. Acting as 2 wireless clients through the house are another 2 AEBS with tivos and xbox's on them, as well as a pc.. and a macbook pro.
Since the last update, any time my MBP goes to sleep, I have to reboot to see the main N network. No other clients are affected, the tivos can still see each other, the xbox's can stream from the pc media server, so it is quite clear the issue is not with the AEBS units.. it is in the OS. Similarly, the airport express running my all b network does not experience this, just the N network from the AEBS
I've trashed all the relevant prefs, and can replicate this behaviour every time I sleep the machine ,which remedies every time i restart it. This happened the first day the update was finally released.. and has continued since.
Who else is experiencing strange behaviour with the latest os x airport update? Has anyone found a fix, or can I uninstall that update? I have no doubt it is causing the issues.

We have a similar problem... since the last update our wireless network has become pretty much useless when it comes to our internet connection.
We have a cable modem and laser printer connected to an Airport extreme which 7 apple computers in our office use to connect to the internet and do general network printing over our wireless network.
Since the last update about two weeks ago our internet connection is intermittent, it's on and off all the time even though our wireless network is at full strength and our computers can still see each other and send files between each other. The printer connected to the Airport Extreme also disappears and you physically have to unplug the power from the Airport Extreme and power it back up for the hub to see the printer again, only to loose it in about 10 minutes... when you restart the airport, internet connectivity is also restored, but only for about 5 to 10 minutes, it then goes into this on/off intermittent mode all the time which is extremely frustrating.
We've connected one of the computers directly with the cable modem and there's no problem with the internet service, it runs 100% 24 hours a day.
I've contacted my apple reseller, thought of buying a new hub but he informed me that there's 4 other businesses complaining of the same thing since the last update...
I'm surprised that there's not more complaints on this forum.
I'm no expert but it seems though the update screwed with the connectivity of the network and usb ports on the back of the Airport Extreme, enabling and disabling them randomly...
What's frustrating is that I don't know how to bring this little problem to the attention of Apple... surely they must be aware of it by now, but judging by the lack of discussions on this forum about this problem I'm a bit worried that they don't know and that only a hand full of people are affected..

Hi Didi,
I have the same probleme since the last airport update and read about it in other German Mac Boards. No one knows what to do. The airport sign shows full strength but it often cannot connect. I would like to go back before the update, but that's not possible with Apple, isn't it?

not sure when I started to have the similar problem. I originally thought it had something to do with the iTunes 8.0.1 (11) update, but upon reading your experiences here this is exactly what is happening with mine. I have been working with apple support for almost 3 weeks now and we are going nowhere.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem...
But, I am SO GLAD to know it's not just me...I thought I was going crazy! I have the same problem. I had just picked up a new Airport Express (802.11n), but the base station could not seem to maintain a reliable connection to the internet.
At first...I thought it had something to do with my DSL connecting via PPPoe. But, I soon discovered that my other computers (running Tiger) were not having any problems. It was only my 17" MacBook Pro (running Leopard) having the issue!
Fortunately, I have a small 10/100 switch that will allow my MacBook to connect to the Airport via Ethernet. So, I can get my email, but no longer wirelessly. FYI: I'm going to contact Apple about this issue (as my Airport is brand new).
I'll let you guys know if I hear of any solutions, etc.
Good Luck...Chip

I have to jump in and say "me too". I was having connectivity issues before the update and jumped at the software update (which was pulled). I ran the second update but now experience interruptions.
I have an Extreme base station - with a MacPro and G4 PowerMac connected wirelessly. I keep a solid connection on the G4 but my connection to the MacPro slows to a crawl from time to time. I can run a speed test (speedtest.net) and get speeds of 20000/3000 on both machines. When it slows down on the MacPro my speeds get as low as 700/250. I have gotten a bit fanatical about testing my speed to try and narrow down when, why, how and all of those things.
But so far I have no clue. I have reset my router settings, restored to factory settings and set up again...nothing has worked to keep a steady connection.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone at Apple is really working on a solution.

Sorry to have to say me too. Upgraded Airport Extreme last night at home and immediately started having disconnects, often several times a minute. My home network is now basically unusable. Come on Apple, admit the problem and fix this.

Have had no problems with extreme base station until last week when I updated airport software. Know airport is cut in & out with mostly slow transfers. I connect thank god to my neighbors unprotected wifi.

Me too. Same issue constant disconnects and reconnects sometimes every 10 seconds or so. I have Linksys WRT54G, iMac Intel 2.0Ghz. By the way, I also have an older iBook G4 in the house with so such issues at all on the same network.

I know all this s/w stuff is black magic at best, but this is weird! I moved moved my AE yesterday so that is now physically within about 15 feet of my MacBook. Since I moved it I have not had a single disconnect, that I have noticed! I can find my Apple TV and it streams and copies there just fine.
I DID notice that my WIFI connection on my iPhone has now become intermittent, which NEVER ha happened before. This is strange because everything is closer, plus I have always had an airport express that I use to bridge my signal.
Apple support seemingly has very few cases on this because there is nothing moving on my original case. The original rep has not been in touch now for over 2 weeks. Not even an email. Sad!
I will post in a few days to let people know if my GOOD LUCK is still working.

Good News!
We might have a FIX to this problem now...
Apple posted an update for the Airport Extreme drivers yesterday, and I downloaded it while I was at the office (since I couldn't get online with my MacBook Pro at home). So far...it seems to be working!
After running Software Update...my computer has had NO PROBLEM remaining connected to my Airport Express (and the intermittent disconnections to the internet seem to have stopped, etc).
So, my recommendation to all you guys is to run Software Update and see how it goes!

I installed the update on 10/31. Now, while my MBP sees and connects to my Airport Extreme and I have full use and access to the network, Airport Utility cannot find my base-station. Yesterday's update really seems to have a problem, at least for me.

That's interesting...
You might try the following:
A) Power off Airport for a few minutes (and shut down computer as well, etc).
B) Power both back up and make sure computer see's Airport (under Wireless menu).
C) Then, try opening Airport Utility again (but make sure computer see's it first).
Anytime I've had connection issues with the Airport Utility, I've found that either my computer wasn't actually "linked" to the Airport (under the menu) OR that I needed to reset everything, etc.

I also have noticed that my iPhone signal strength on WiFi has dropped to half what it was before the AE 004 update, sitting in the same place on my livingroom couch that I normally use it to clear e-mail and use the MBP. Now both are practically useless at this location, only about 50 ft from the AE box. As I write this I have moved into the office about 10 ft from the AE and all is well. Looks like the update severely decreased the range of the AE. Hope Apple has some plan to fix this quickly. If I have to be here in the office I might just as well hook up the ethernet and have no use for the AE box.
