Connecting AE through WDS to Speedtouch ST585v6

Hello members
I have a setup with MBP and Windows computers networked and a WHS(windows home server) as a backup and media share device. My router/modem is a Speetouch ST585v6. The Airport Extreme Base station with the WHS machine are in another room and I want that to be connected to the default gateway through WDS. The connection between the default gateway is working as long as I have the cable(Ethernet) connected between the default gateway and the AE.
Would someone be able to pinpoint where I have to add details so the AE and the default gateway can be connected wireless?
Main network and WDS are on different channel.
WDS on AE is set as WDS remote
Can the IP address of the AE be in the same range as the network?
Network name on AE is different as the main network name; does that affect the functionality?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
MBP

Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of Wireless Distribution System (WDS)...so it very unlikely that your Speedtouch router can be extended wirelessly with the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS).
