Anyone else notice thin grey lines on a slight angle on the display?
Otherwise love my macbook air!

I have these as well.
It's driving me completely nuts; it looks like everything is on laid paper stock.

See this thread over at another Mac user forum. The problem seems to affect a number of users worldwide.

Extremely annoying. Mine also has these faint lines on it's screen.
And 4 finger scrolling is not working for me! There is no such option available for me.
Years ago i had a Powerbook with the same issue.

The thread I referenced above also mentions the 4-finger trackpad problem that you have. According to the thread, this problem seems to affect only purchases made outside the USA. Did you buy yours outside the USA?

Yes John, I bought it in Germany directly from the Apple Online Store and got it shipped from China.
Could the trackpad issue result from the OSX build version and/or the trackpad driver? Mine is build 9F33 and System Profiler says "Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad: Version: 0.70"
But the problems with the display doesn't seem to be software related. It looks like an interference between the TFT panel and the transparent panel on it, because it looks like a "speckle pattern" of a laser beam when changing your point of view.

I've returned my Air back to Apple today for replacement. This is because of the lines and no four finger swipe. First time I've ever returned something.

I played with a 1.86Ghz MBA and found that screen flickered quite a bit when I brought up the test pattern on a full screen Safari. The test pattern was from the post #89 at <http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=594520&page=4>.
I then tried the same on a new MB, and the screen on the MB was fine without any flickering.
Except the time I had the test pattern on, I didn't notice any line(s) people wer describing in various forums.
If you have a new MBA (rev B?), could you try that test pattern to see if you get the similar flickering even if you don't see thin lines? The screen flicker caused me to turn my back on that beautiful MBA.

I returned my replacement MacBook Air back to Apple today for a refund. The screen still has a 'grainy' appearance and the text is not as crisp as my White Intel MacBook. The four finger swipe still didn't work.
Essentially I'm gutted about this. I don't care about the four finger swipe, but I do care about my eyes. On both the Airs I tried the screens were just not as good as my White MacBook (£1000 less).
If someone from Apple would like to call me about this I would very much appreciate it. I am ready to buy an Air, right now, but I do want the screen to be crisp and clear.
I hope this does not deter people from buying an Air. It is a fantastic product, just let down by a few quality control issues.
Graham.
