iTunes 8.0.2 launching problem

I just installed iTunes 8.0.2 on my Mac Mini G4-1.42GHz with 1GB RAM, and tried opening iTunes. A dialog box says "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13008). I tried reinstalling iTunes, but the same message occurs. It was working fine under 8.0.1. Any suggestions?

HI,
Try deleting the iTunes preference file; com.apple.iTunes.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to your Desktop. Try to launch iTunes. If it launches successfully, drag that .plist file to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Your Mac will create a new preference file for you after you launch iTunes.
If that doesn't help, try the Disk Utility app (Applications/Utilities). Launch DU, select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid button, then click Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished reboot and try to launch iTunes.
Next... check your login items. Go to System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. If there is an iTunes helper file listed, select it then click the - button to delete it. It's a help app that launches on boot for iTunes, but you don't need to have in the log in list.

I just upgraded iTunes via the Apple Software Update on two PCs and through the Apple Software Update on my Mac and now NONE of my computers, PC or MAC, will launch iTunes. Two of my PCs seem to be in a constant loop, wanting me to restart my PC. OK, I did that. Now what Apple? Restart My Laptop, My PC, and my old G5 again and again and again? Seriously. 5 reboots now, each time I try and launch iTunes, after the update, "You Must Restart your PC for the configuration changes made to iTunes to take effect. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to manually restart later"
Um, yeah... No? Why has Apple corrupted their Install? Now I can't sync my iPhone with my computer. Thanks!

OK, for you PC users out there, go to the iTunes Program Files Folder and click on the iTunes Application listed there. You should see a prompt for Apple to "Fix" the problem with the install. say yes. iTunes will open after that and you should be OK, except for the shortcut to iTunes. Delete it and create a new shortcut...

So, I got iTunes to open on Two PCs and a Mac running Leopard (Up to Date), but when I plugged my iPhone into my Laptop that I've had it synced to (Since I purchased my 1st gen iPhone about 7 months ago), it DID say that there was an iPhone Software Update... So..... I pressed OK to Update the software, and it downloaded it... And, when it started the install, it got to a certain point at which it decided to put it into an Endless "Connect to iTunes Screen" loop.
This *****. iTunes won't even recognize my iPhone now. It's not a jailbrake ipwn, either; totally legitimate.
ANYone have ANY ideas? Experiencing the same frustration because you can't even put your iPhone into a Restore Mode to do a RESTORE????
Help?
(I noticed that it's starting to get pretty warm, too. That njormally happens when you have hardware running software that isn't quite ready for the masses, yet...)

If I rename my ~/Music/iTunes folder, iTunes is able to start. Not sure why it doesn't like my current library files.

I moved the iTunes Library and iTunes Music Library.xml files to my desktop, started iTunes successfully, quit iTunes, and copied the two files back. Now things seem to be working with my old library.
Strange.

If you are getting this 13008 error when you open iTunes 8.0.2 for the first time, before you try any troubleshooting, I would like to get more information from you. Please email me <royb@apple.com> with the following info:
1. Do you have multiple instances of iTunes pointed at your iTunes library?
2. Copy and paste into the email the Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal) output from running ls -l on your iTunes folder. If your music library is stored in the default location, this command would be: ls -l ~/Music/iTunes.
3. Attach a copy of your iTunes Library Extras.itdb and your iTunes Library Genius.itdb file from your iTunes folder to the email.

I have just downloaded iTunes 8.0.2. When I try starting it it will not open, it is running but says it is unresponsive. I cannot force quit it and the only way to stop it running is to restart the machine. Since the update my computer spends an age on the blue screen when restarting the computer. I thought the benefit of a a mac was to avoid all this crap!.

Having the exact same issue. I am sharing the iTunes folder with other users, seems like it could be one of the factor for this error to occur
