Possible bug in mail app after updating to 2.2

Just updated and found out that I can't email anything out. I get "The sender address was invalid" message. Tried deleting and re-adding email account but no luck there. I use gmail if that's of any help. Anyone else got this issue?

Nope - emails send just fine from my gmail account after the v2.2. update.

Receiving is fine, everything relating to sending fails. Email photo, write message and such.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), I don't think it's a bug.
It looks to me like Rogers/Fido up here in Canada seems to be blocking (intentionally or not) gmail's SMTP server. It was out almost all day yesterday, then starting working around 4 for some people, then is back down this morning.
I could be wrong, but that's the theory where I've been talking to people at google groups and howardforums, as it seems to work on WiFi for most people.
Some people have switched their primary SMTP to the built in rogers one, but I have too many trust issues for that 
Hopefully Rogers gets their act together sometime soon.

I don't know about the fido/rogers thing but I'm currently using wifi at my place and it's failing. I think the problem is some software glitch.

Just tried doing a restore, deleted the ipsw I had and got a new one. Same issue wifi & 3g email sending still won't work.

I tried deleting the gmail account, then re-adding it. Same problem. I tried it on wifi, and 3g, and neither work.
Interesting that everyone on this thread seems to be in Canada. It seems to me that because everyone here is in Canada, it is an issue with gmail rather than the iphone software. But you can't be sure.

I'm having the exact same problem as everyone here. I can get my mail fine, just can reply or write a new message.
It's a strange coincidence that this morning the mail doesn't work, and this morning I noticed that Gmail has a new interface. Hmm....
I too am on Rogers. Grrrr!!

I'm on the original iPhone. 2.2 has killed my ability to send messages from my Gmail accounts. Thanks, Apple.
