Hi brazisz,
What is the make and model of your wireless router? What firmware version is running on the router?
How is the router configured? Is it using WEP or WPA? Is it using MAC address filtering?
Try Resetting Network Settings on the iPhone, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
If Resetting Network Settings does not resolve the issue, try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

This has to be on the Iphone/touch. I have a 1G Ipod touch and a 3g Iphone, both on 2.2.1 Itouch works fine. I used the Iphone today, work fine on the internet, Updated to 2.2.1 and now no internet.
the Ipone is on the network, it gets assigned an IP address and can even play games with my Itouch, just no internet.
So when will 2.2.2 be out to fix this bug?

Update: I tried my Iphone on another network and it worked, with out even as much as a reset. brought it back to my office network which didn't work, still. I reset my cable modem, router and Sonic wall friewall, and magically everything works.
on a side note I had a brand new Toshiba laptop behaving the same way, I figured it was vista locking down the internet, after the reset it works also. I'm blaming Vista
and yes I'll eat my words, it wasn't on the Ipone.

I had the same problem trying to use Wi-Fi in Austria on 2.2.1 on a British iPhone 3G 8Gb. It is still working fine on the free UK wi-fi partner (BT Openzone) and on 2 different Netgear routers at home, but I couldn't get it to work with Tmobile Austria at Salzburg airport. It would log on to the network, apparently successfully, and display the wi-fi icon, but on attempting to load a web page, Safari said it wasn't connected to the internet, usually immediately. Entering an IP address directly like 192.168.0.1 just led to a delay followed by the same message. All other internet applications also failed to work.
I had a different problem on a hotel wi-fi network, also in Austria, at Hotel Neutor in Salzberg. There, I was simply unable to connect to any of their hotel networks (mostly WPA I think), despite them providing separate SSIDs for Macs and PCs (I tried both). I did not recognise the router model, unfortunately; it was white with a 2cm illuminated blue panel and twin adustable antennas; not a Netgear. They assured me that the WPA password was correct and that others were using the network without incident.
All appeared to worked fine once again upon my return home to the UK.

Update. I unplugged my cable router and waited a few minutes. It reset and now everything seems to be working.
I had no problem whatsoever until I installed 2.2.1 so I'm sure that's what caused the problem but at least, after some testing, it's going now.

i have an original iphone 3G too and since the update
my wifi doesnt work too
it hardly finds any network (any network, not just the one i've got at home with the timecapsule but any other)
and when it finds a network, after several tries to conect, when it seems it worked
and i go to safari to test it
it jumps back to 3G
its truly anoying, i've tried all the tips in the apple support but none of them worked.
what can we try?

Ugh. Me too. Now asking me a password to join my network. What a PITA. It's getting so you have to let any update marinate for a couple of weeks and then check the message boards to ensure that it's not going to break an essential feature.
What gives, Apple?

Same exact thing here. I put the iPhone in the freezer for 20+ minutes and it started working perfectly. Stopped after two days so I froze it again - it'll probably become a routine until someone finds out a better fix.
P.S.: Your iPhone/Touch might get really cold/watery but don't worry - everything will be fine =) Cheers!

Yep, I'm having the same problem everyone else is talking about, after the 2.2.1 upgrade, my wifi on 2G iPhone not working. Tried everything. It will, for a few seconds, bring up all the networks in Settings and let me choose one, but then they all disappear and it goes back to Edge network.
Then, when I start the WiFinder App from the App Store, it behaves the same way. Sometimes it will bring up all the networks on my block, and then you refresh, and it detects no networks. All other wifi devices at the house work fine.
Upgrade 2.2.1 is the culprit, and I can't find any tricks to get it working correctly again. Help!
