Error Publishing from iweb 09 - Server or iweb problems??

I upgraded from iweb 08 (I had no issues) to iweb 09, and I have publishing errors more than half the time. Are the mobileme servers having problems, or is there a hack in the iweb software?
This is a big problem because I have 20 Gb of pages with video that I need to re-publish. It is bad enough that I will be tying my network up for 2 weeks, but that I often don't make progress.
The message is "Error connecting to mobileme, check network.. .." The problem is that it uploads for an hour or so before it stops.. I am double checking to see if my routing is causing the problem, but I don't think so..
Is Apple working on this? Are there numerous people who are now stuck re-publishing their sites and the servers are getting beat up? Does anyone know how to diagnose this type of problem?

I too am having this problem.
When I upgraded to iWeb09 all my site 'pages' turned red. So I 'Published all' or tried to. It timed out after an hour or so blaming internet connections. I've never had this before.
I tried cutting and pasting to Pages and then creating one page at a time as a test.
The publish worked at first despite being veeerrryyyyyy ssslllooowww! In fact when I made one tiny adjustment to alighning a paragraph it took another hour to update!!!
When I added a couple more (text only) pages it did the same timing out. iWeb 08 was always very reliable even with some flash rich pages. Now it doesn't seem to be handle even the most basic site.
It smells like a problem that needs an update to fix. Come back 08 all is forgiven!

Well, I tried taking the router out of the equation, but that did not help..
I got the following message -
"Publish Error
iweb couldn't connect to mobileme. Make sure
your internet connection works and try again"
I did not have this problem with iweb 08.. Nothing else changed..

Brian mine seems to have improved over the last few hours.
I've just been building up the pages again. The pages (on the left) have turned blue again after publishing which they weren't doing before.
The only thing I have done differently is a permissions verify / repair.
Give it a go?

Pete,
This only helps if you have successfully uploaded the pages, right??
Are you saying that if you attempt to publish, get the message "Publish Error iweb couldn't connect to mobileme. Make sure your internet connection works and try again" that you should perform a permissions verify / repair??? Do you think that the pages were published, but that a repair was needed to get the iweb software to recognize that the page was totally uploaded..

Brian earlier today I was struggling to upload anything even a minor alteration was taking an hour. I think it helped taking my site back to two pages. I only did a permissions check out of habit and indeed desperation. Maybe it jogged something or maybe MobileMe was functionin g better. Having said all this my site is very simple in comparison to yours

I continue to have success with 2 pages at a time.. Takes roughly an hour per cycle.. The problem is that I need to be able to submit 30 - 50 pages at a time and go to bed..
I traveled to the Apple store yesterday to talk to one of the sales persons. I asked if it was a server problem or the iweb 09.. She had no idea if Apple has a problem. She suggested I take my machine down to apple store to have them check it out.. I told her that I did not have any problems before the iweb 09 upgrade..
The 1st thing is understanding the problem.. Is this a mobileme server problem or is this strictly an iweb 09 software hack?? Does anyone know for sure??

After reading numerous posts about FTP not working I am posting a screenshot of my settings for FTP '09 which has been working perfectly for me. Perhaps this will help:

I did not use iWeb '08 because it did not have FTP and used DreamWeaver. From being a DreamWeaver user I have been very impressed at what iWeb '09 can do.

Well, another tough night attempting to upload my video pages.. I had 4 - 5 failed attempts last night and 1 this morning.. The problem is that it takes time before it fails, and I bog the system down. MY INTERNET CONNECTION IS USELESS TO OTHERS..
I am starting to think that it is definitely a server problem.. I was able to upload 4 video pages last night, but then I failed with 2 pages this morning. Normally 2 video pages works fine.. I am sure that it has something to do with the amount of data, but again the iweb 09 software and the mobileme server should be robust enough to handle.
When the connection to the mobileme server occurs, why doesn't the software allow a restart from where it was? The software has already uploaded data, and it would be nice if the software was smart enough to just restart from the failure point until they fix the problem..

Finally i solved the issue of Publishing Error in iWeb 09 with MobileMe.
Procedure which i followed and might also help you guys.
Lets say your default site name is XYZ then create a new site e.g. ABC.
Thereafter dragged all pages from default site XYZ to new site ABC ONE BY ONE.
In the preference folder delete any PLIST files related to iWeb (i had two files in my folder).
Once you drag all pages from your default site to new site there after just make a new blank page and publish the site.
Then start dragging first one page from new site ABC and publish one page. There after repeat all pages one by one and publish after every page you drag from new site ABC to default site XYZ.
Once you finish then take a backup in time machine of the domain.
There after start your blog page then publish again then start photos album page, publish again then your movie page, publish again etc because these are the pages which were mostly creating errors.
After you complete the final page and publish remove the blank page and publish again.
I spent 3 days with the same problem and finally i could finish by this method in few hours.

Thanks for this.
Fingers crossed I am ok now but this is a very useful workaround should my old problems resurface
