Has anyone received a BTO or standard model?
Posted: Feb 4, 2009 9:57 AM

Well my BTO MBP was supposed to be shipped today but it is highly unlikely. The Apple Customer Service could not confirm it, saying that the standard configuration models begun to ship at the end of January 2009 and the BTO versions are probably now being customized.. With a 2.93 GHz chip and a 320 GB (7200 rpm) drive, one would think it would not be a big deal. :(

Has anyone received a 17-inch MBP? Anyone? Bueller?

Well considering we've been e-mailed to say our orders won't be out until 19th February, I don't think any one will be seeing one of these any time soon.

My credit card was charged today for my pre-order placed in January. The email I received is stating a ship date of 2/13. What is this email you are referring to saying they are delayed until 2/19? I haven't seen anything like that.

Well, just looked and Apple Australia, Japan and UK have "Shipping in 3-4 weeks" on the websites now. North American outlets still list 7-10 business days.

So it either doesn't affect NA stores or the change is traveling with the Earth's rotation and those of us in the New World will get notified of slipping dates sometime tonight.

And on that note Apple just put a "hold" on my credit card.

Man this is fun.

All of you have ordered different configurations, ordered them on different dates, for shipment to different places, with different shipping instructions, and you've all been told different things about when they'll be shipped/delivered. Why is anyone surprised? There's no reason whatsoever to expect consistent answers, or to suppose that what anyone else is told means anything about your own shipment. Do yourselves a favor: get over the hysteria, quit agonizing and analyzing and trying to read the tea leaves. Just wait for your orders to arrive.

Did it ever occur to you that some people thrive on the expectations and the guessing? You're free to ignore those of us who choose to imbibe such foolishness.

I had read a post from a user (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8939044#8939044) saying they had received an e-mail stating that their shipping will be delayed.
I went to check my e-mail and had the same. Sorry to assume it was affecting every one.

Quoting from e-mail

Dear ---- ---,

Thank you again for your order!

Completing the new 17 -inch MacBook Pro is taking a little longer than we projected, and we now expect to begin shipping on 19th February 2009.

A shipment notification, with tracking information, will be emailed to you as soon as your order is shipped.

As we will keep you updated on any changes to your Order, please be advised that you do not need to contact us unless you choose to change or cancel your order. You can also check the status and change your order by visiting our online order status website at http://store.apple.com/uk/orderstatus

We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused you.

Thank you for shopping at the Apple Online Store!

Sincerely,
The Apple Online Store

While I haven't gotten "the email" yet, my order status has changed to "ships Feb 19".

I'll be interested to hear the rumors as to what's behind the delay.

I got pushed back to Feb 19th also so I gave apple a call and explained how dissapointed that I am with the fact that I was told my date was solid and that it would ship out Feb 9th. They offered to let me choose a free case from the apple store. I picked the $99 incase backpack for the 17 inch. I don't feel as bad now since they are willing to take care of their customers. So If I were yall I would call and complain saying that its not right that we had a date and that now its changed.
