We just wait until Apple fixes the certificate signature, or download the update from manually. And no I don't know the address, but I bet Google does.

I'm also getting this message on both my new iMac and new MacBook Pro.

It doesn't seem to download the whole update before trying to extract something and then throwing the error.

I got the incorrect digital signature message on the first attempt at downloading the update through Software Update. I tried again about 5 minutes later & had no problems.

My guess is the servers are overwhelmed with requests for this new OS update & don't always deliver the complete, correct update package.

You should breathe a huge sigh of relief, and THANK Apple for that message. It means your download is corrupted in some manner - and, if you were to continue the download, you would REALLY have problems during the update.

Simple try the download again.

And if you are a Safari BETA user, run System Update AGAIN, and download the Safari update. It will give you the latest beta, which addresses security issues - as described at ...

I got that message too. I subsequently downloaded the standalone version from the Apple Support site. The link to it is on the lower part of the Software Update window. The installation was successful although when I tried to restart after the installation, there was a blue screen with a looping arrow that went on and on and on till I powered it off with the power button. Then restarted by pushing the power button again. It then restarted at least three times and now looks okay.

OK Guys. i think I may of figured this out. I have been having this error for monthes upon monthes with every update apple had released.
I did the following things, and it resolved this on 2 machines (one was a newer machine, which i pulled the info over using migration assistant.

1) Uninstalled Cisco VPN Client (using sudo /usr/local/bin/vpn_uninstall )

2) Removed any preference file in /Library/Preferences/ and ~/Library/Preferences/ that had any of the following names (only com.apple files) Security, software update, loginwindow, finder, etc.
3) Removed all the keychain files, located in /Library/Keychain/ and ~/Library/Keychain/

Ran the Keychain fix utility at /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access

Ran a fix on the keychains (there are none, you deleted them) This will recreate a new keychain for you.

Rebooted.

All Su ran fine. Again, this is only what worked for me, and like I said, I have had this issue for monthes. No solution that was posted online worked, this seemed to.
I would say the pref files being deleted might not make a dofference, I think the real culprit is bad keychain files, and maybe the cisco vpn client.

Can anyone try this, and report back?

HI all,
I have been getting the same error regardless of when I do the update in the 24 hours of a day, or when I do it weeks and months later. I get it whether I do it via the work network or via my home ISP. And I didn't used to get it until I purchased a retail version of both leopard and ilife from an apple store. I therefore think its not the excuse of a busy server. And while I can work around it in going directly to the <http://support.apple.com/downloads> site, I still need the update to work, that's what I paid for. And also its the update app. that lists the ones I need to manually download anyway.

But here is an interesting thing I found and so wonder if this is part of the 'digital signature' issue. All my manual downloads of the updates always default to the language of Dansk not, English! It used to always default to English!

Is anyone getting this problem and has the update digital signature problem been fixed/solved by anyone who had it?
