Installed update to 10.5.7 and now MacBook Pro will not connect to internet. Good signal from wireless network. Connects using USB wireless mobile broadband (shows time connected) but will NOT load internet pages or download email..... "Firefox can't find server at....."
Hold off on update to OS 10.5.7!!!!
How do I fix problem? Use wireless broadband mobile for work and wireless network at home. No connection at all at present with MacBook Pro. Using PowerPC G5 at present.

Further to this problem!!! Connected briefly then dropped out. Now not connecting again, although troubleshooting indicates connection to wireless network.

Please DO NOT double post.
Thank you
Also never presume your problem is sufficient to tell everyone not to install an update.
It works perfectly here. The problem is with your system, not with the update.

Connects to wireless network okay, connects using wireless mobile modem okay.... but will not download emails or connect to internet. (had brief success with internet connection then stopped working again. As I said, only variable is OS10.5.7

Update may not cause problems for everyone, but my computer is effected. I assume that it is possible for someone else to have the same problem. Thus the suggestion to wait. Without an internet connection it is going to be difficult to remedy the problem by downloading an update. (won't connect to internet!) Thus the need to find a solution. Okay.... something has gone wrong with my system after installing OS update and I need internet to work reliably.

I'm having the same issue on two MacBook Pros after the 10.5.7 update. Connection will drop, then I have to turn Airport off and on to kickstart it again. I have a Vista machine that continues to work, so the Internet connection is still up from the router out. Any ideas?

Are there error messages in your /var/log/system.log file related to AirPort that appear to correspond to the network drops?
You can view this log using the Console utility in Applications->Utilities.

I am having the same problem. Have to turn Airport off and back on. Works for a while, then gets slow and/or drops connection. Very annoying.

You're not alone. I upgraded, only difference, and had internet connection problems. Email, ftp uploads, internet slow like molasses. I ended up going back to 10.5.6 and the problems are gone. Didn't have to do a clean install even. Just restore it.

I'm having the exact same issue. I was connected this morning using my Verizon Wireless modem on the MacBook Pro. I then updated the operating system with the new updates. Now the modem won't even fully connect. It says "Registering with network" and then it drops saying connect failed. This is a problem as it's the only way I can get access. There's obviously a system bug in this update that needs to be resolved immediately.

It appears that you have to turn off AirPort in order for the Verizon modem to work.

Convinced it's the update. I have older Macs, too. G3, G4, G4 laptop, only my I-Mac was affected with the upgrade. Cost me time and money since I depend on the connection for work and need the new CS4 used only with intel macs.

.. run repair permissions in Disk Utility and reboot.
.. download the 10.5.7. Combo update and run it from your desktop, run repair permissions, then reboot.
I am running 10.5.7 and its running perfectly.

I am having the same problem with my two MBPs running 10.5.7 at my office, but not at home. The office network is through a linksys 802.11g access point, the home network is airport extreme.
