Since 3.0 I'm having slow backups every time the phone does one, on both computers on which I sync (Mac at home, everything except calendar is synched, at work, Win XP, only calendar items synched). This is not what is causing the problem, as it worked previously. And I don't have ESPN installed.
LAtest version running on both (obviously).

Yes, no ESPN makes backups fly. All I need is MLB AtBat anyways

14 hours and counting on my iPhone. It looks like it's about 50% of the way there. I spoke to Apple Support and they said "this is normal."
At this rate, I'll be happy to have a backup by Monday.

Hi,
I have same issue, first backup after OS 3.0 upgrade took about 45 minutes, now regular backups take 5-10 minutes to complete. On 2.2.1, it was 2-3 minutes for a backup.
Does anyone know if Apple has an official answer to this issue ?

For those who run the iWOW plugin: remove it and everything will work smoothly again. In some cases it might also be necessary to delete the itunes.plist file as well.

Perhaps for some the subsequent back ups are quick, but I'm still experiencing hours long (more than 1.5 easily) every time since the upgrade to 3.0. I sure hope the fixes come soon. After the upgrade to 2.0 it took several weeks for the biggest, most irritating bugs to get fixed.

Anything more than about 10 minutes to back up a 16GB 3G iPhone (flash drive) would possibly be understandable in the PC world; for Apple to allow such amateur-hour BS is INEXCUSABLE. I'm now at more than an hour and am still only 50% backed up running 3.0.1. What possible justification could there be for preventing me from using my PHONE for more than 10 minutes?
C'mon, Apple...You're making it real difficult to continue my 25-year role as MacEvangelist!

I am on hour 10 (!!!) and the progress bar is stuck about 70%. I would stop it and start over, but I need it to be completed by Monday so I can use my phone.
