WiFi range after upgrading 3.0

Hi,
after upgrading to 3.0, my WiFi range and stability is dropped.
In the same house and the same equipment, the signal dropped from 3 to 1 bar..
With 2.2, this was not happening and I had 3 bars all the time, rigardless of where I was in the house.
Is there a way to fix this or a guide to downgrade to 2.2...
I set IPod in DFU mode but could not downgrade.
Any help please?

WiFi connections problems to be solved by resetting network settings first on your iPod Touch, says apple discussion forum.

The one thing that could be degrading you connection is bluetooth,try and see if it improves by shutting the bluetooth off

Yes, I have WiFi problems. Last night I upgraded my iPod Touch to OS 3.0. Since then it does not automatically connect to my WiFi. I have to do it manually. It does however see the WiFi device and I can say 'connect'. However, the signal seems weaker (less stripes), once connected.
Also my applications WiFinder and WiFiTracker ("could not proberly initialize the WiFi scanner..") do not work properly anymore.
Now I will to reset my network settings on my iPod Touch ....... and YES this seems to solve the problem. Thanx.

I reset my network settings.. but it did not seem to be helpful..
Still losing bars, where 2.2 showed full strength.
Bluetooth is disabled..

I have the same problem. In case Apple is reviewing these discussions, here is my Configuration:
1) iPod touch with OS 3.0
2) Linksys Wireless Access point in Mixed Mode
3) Reset Network Settings on iPod Touch, Rebooted router and access point
4) Blue Tooth is not enabled
With the exact same network hardware setup, the new OS 3.0 displays the wifi signal strength as 1 to 2 bars, even if I am 6 inches away from the wireless access point. This was not the case in OS 2.2.

To cure the need to manually log onto your network each time, set SSID in the router to ON. The touch does not remember networks that do not broadcast their name.
WiFinder will not work with 3.0 and don't expect an update as it was removed from the Apple store. WiFiTracker is waiting for approval of their 3.0 compatible app.

Fluctuating WiFi signal strength generally is the result of the router or interference from adjacent networks broadcasting on the same channel. Reboot your router and see if that helps. You may also have to change channels on the router (although most do that automatically).
To be honest, it doesn't matter much if you have one bar or three. If the WiFi symbol is visible, you are connected.

I don't agree with you. Try running speedtest from the Touch when u have 1 bar vs when you have max signal strength indicated. The speed should be lower, just as it is with a laptop positioned at the fringe of one's wifi signal area, compared to setting the laptop in the same room as the router.

when did the OP mention they have SSID broadcast turned OFF?

Before I did a "reset network settings" on my Touch, I also did a "renew lease" on my WiFi-network to be chosen. Maybe that had influence too.....

I really try not to compare laptop WiFi to iPod touches. You use a laptop much differently than you do a touch and speed is more important. While I find g mode adequate for most non-intensive laptop apps, I put my N dongle in when I have a big file download because I don't like to wait.
I find WiFi speed to be less critical on the touch because of the way it is used. Many websites have a "mobile" version which is highly simplified and loads quickly. Downloads of apps and music take lots of time on a g mode network anyway. Mail takes very little time to download.
So I guess we can disagree.
