Battery hot after 3.0 update

Hi all,
I updated to 3.0 last night (about 20 hours ago) and since then my iPhone is hot and goes through a full charged battery in a matter of hours. Any idea what is going on and how to fix it? I restarted a few times, it doesn't seem to help.
Cheers,
Adrian

You probably have something running the background that shouldn't. Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

This happened to my 3G when I had push exchange mail set up but the settings wrong. It was constantly connecting, failing, and retrying. Try resetting your network and email settings, or turn off push email.

i have the same problem.... i did not have a good chance to go through 1 proper cycle but the battery drains fast and the overheats. it stops charging after about 20% (i found out that by putting a fan to cool it it then keeps on charging). i also noticed that mms capabilities were disabled (i had no icon in message app near the space where you type the msg) but suddenly after i resetted my phone it came...
I am switching off my iphone until apple solves this problem i dont want to damage the battery.
hope they fix it fast...

I installed 'Need for Speed Underground' today, after update.
My phone seemed fine before I installed. Pete Tong since.

I have the same problem. I have 3.0 loaded on my 3G and as soon as I enable Push for fetching my email from our corp Exchange server, the battery gets hot and the battery depletes rapidly. I had this same problem prior to the 3.0 release. So, I ended up using a 15 min poll on the fetch data settings.
I had hoped that Apple would have fixed this in 3.0, but oh well...

That's interesting!
I have two major problems!
One is my Mail keeps crashing and the other is the battery getting hot and not lasting long. I hadn't thought the two were related, but if I turn off my work exchange email account, the Mail doesn't quit and the battery doesn't get warm.
Battery still doesn't last very long.

Well first of all I truly believe that replying to a topic saying "I have the same problem" doesn't really help anyone. The real issue is to either figure out what is wrong, or provide a solution that may work. Otherwise we will end up with a topic with hundreds of posts, saying completely nothing useful.
As for the new update, the undeniable fact is that many things went wrong apart from the battery issue. So it is only common sense to assume that an update should be on the way really fast, or this whole thing will turn into a fiasco, and Apple wouldn't want that on one of their top selling products.
Experiencing the same problem myself, I did not see anywhere mentioned which models are affected by the battery issue. I have a 3G 8gb model (which was released last July, to be precise). A friend of mine who has the exact same model but with 16gb capacity had no battery issues after the update. jynxthecat mentioned something, but I didn't figure out if you solved it or not, after the update or before. So is there anyone among you having a 16gb iPhone experiencing this problem or is it only for the 8gb models affected by it. I wouldn't suspect data fetch or unclosed apps, because I haven't changed any fetch settings, haven't changed any e-mail settings, haven't used the phone in any different way than I usually do. So I can't believe that that there is something wrong other than the update.

Thank you TrippinBilly for your immediate response. As you said you did experience battery issues before the 3.0 update. Is it different now after the update or is it as it was a week before?
