I noticed it was off by a few degrees and was wondering if anyone knew how to recalibrate it?

"The compass needs to be calibrated the first time you use it, and may need to be calibrated occasionally after that. iPhone alerts you whenever calibration is needed."
Could your difference be the difference between true north and magnetic north?
Switch between true north and magnetic north: Tap the circled i symbol and tap the setting you want.

I think my problem is due to I wasnt in a open field area.
I was moving it in a figure 8, facing West... and I didnt know the 2 laptops near me were on. And I had 2 ipod touches that were in sleep mode near me.
It is off by about 10 or so degrees in both Magnetic and true north.

There is also a support note up now that talks about situations, such as in a car, where doing the figure 8 wave is NOT the right answer due to inherent interference in the car. The support note suggests leaving the iPhone alone -- ignoring the calibration screen if it comes up -- and just keep driving. It says that "after a few turns" the compass should sort itself out on its own.
