High-pitched whine on 3G S when recording video

Does anyone with a 3G S notice a very high-pitched noise emanating from the speakers of the phone when it is recording video?
Here's how to check...
1. Load the camera app and set it to record video
2. Start recording video
3. Make sure you turn up the speaker all the way
4. Put the bottom of the phone (where the dock connector is) up to your ear
Do you hear a high-pitched whine coming out of the phone speakers?
I do -- it is noticeable when I record video...especially in a quiet room...there is a high continuous whine.

I only hear a faint high-pitched whine while recording.
However, that same exact sound stars and louder when I lock my phone.

I wonder if this issue is related to a similar high-pitched whine that you may hear for a few seconds after locking the phone or receiving an SMS?
If you are reading this, give it a try (recording a video as described above) and please post of you are experiencing the issue....also what color and size is your phone. I have a 32 GB black which has the bug, so does a friend, but a second friend with a 32 GB white phone doesn't have the issue.

I just did it and did not hear any sound at all. Sounds like you may have a defective phone.

I tried it. Didn't notice any whine. I have Black 32GB (Fido) model MC149C.

bcalvanese, interesting that you do not have the issue. By chance, are you (not) experiencing this issue either (high pitched whine after locking phone):

I wonder if there was a manufacturing batch of iPhones that were defective...its definitely too wide spread to just be a few bad phones, but clearly not everyone has the issue either.

Readers....can you please post your serial # and model number, and whether you are having the issue. Let's see if we can narrow it down to a range of serial numbers maybe...
(Find this info in Settings --> General --> About)
