I have a few apps that will change to a different icon. ie: the text twist game has the xm radio logo, but when i go into the appe its the game. some are just plain grey. no pics on them. ive deleted them, reinstalled. sync the phone, rebooted the phone, shut the phone off and it doesnt work. any idea's on what i can do to fix this? or is it just a bug that has to be worked out? TIA

Same issue here. Installed 2 new apps and at some point they changed to just grey. Like you I tried to uninstall and reinstall but same issue. What worked for me was to uninstall the affected apps then move your remaining apps around so that when you reinstall your apps the install to a new location. This fixed mine, hope it works for you!

Not sure if this is the issue or not... just throwing it out there. Under Settings -> General -> Restrictions there's a section labeled "Allowed Content:". If you have your content for "Apps" set to anything other than "Allow All Apps" then you will get some disabled applications where they fall withing the restriction criteria. I discovered this when I set it to restrict "17+" and my Facebook, Shazam, and a few other applications totally disappeared.

I have the issue of the apps changing icons, as well. However, in my case, I get icons from others apps. For example, Facebook has the Recorder app icon; TwitFone has the DirecTV icon, etc.
Nothing I can find to fix it.

When I experienced this I went into iTunes Applications tab for the iPhone and unchecked ALL the applications and re-synced. Naturally this removed all the apps from the iPhone. Next I performed a hard reset on the iPhone. Re-synced the iPhone and went back into the iTunes Applications tab for the iPhone and checked all the applications and re-synced again (which installed them all back to the iPhone). Naturally you lose all your saved games and settings, but the solution worked perfectly for me and I've not had any problems since. Give it a shot.

the issue with mine is that newly installed apps are showing the icons of apps that i've deleted in the past. seems like it's all related?

Just updated my 3GS with ATT.IPCC which you google and find out how , reset and there it is all my apps are back. I know MMS and tethering won't work and I don't care for now I think by blocking that on OS 3.0 Apple messed up the application Icons. Good luck!!!!
