iTunes trojan: Small.BOG!!
Posted: Jul 24, 2009 1:59 PM

Tried to open iTunes just now and got an AVG Alert telling me that iTunes.dll and iTunesRegistry.dll are infected with "Trojan horse Small.BOG".

I only just used it yesterday without issue.

Anyone had this before? Any ideas?

I have the same error. Re-installing with the previous version did not help. Worked fine last night and since install, and my computer has been off all day.

What seems odd is that its the actual iTunes dll's which are highlighted rather than another file hidden in the directory. Is AVG mis diagnosing?

I'm wondering that myself...though so far no one has posted a similar thread on their boards.

Turned up today during a scan for the first time. Got exposed to virus yesterday, so thought this might be related. Tried to remove - with no luck. Will TRY to monitor this discussion IF I can work out how!

i've got exactly the same message from AVG, no idea whether it's a misdiagnosis or i've actually got trojan horse
it's weird though because itunes was working perfectly fine earlier
if anyone's got any idea whatsoever about how to combat this trojan or whether it's a false alarm i would gladly listen
please help!

Brand new windows installation, not even on internet (iTunes Installer, AVG on usb stick. Can't imagine!) AVG must be misdetecting something or apple has something on their servers that they don't know about yet.

Current work around for me is to add "C:\Program Files (x86)\ipod" as an exception under Resident Shield>Manage Exceptions>Add Path.
