Unable to Open Multiple Files - Annoyance

Hi, this annoying problem started after installing Snow Leopard.
Whenever I drag multiple files to an icon to open the files, ONLY one of the files open.
This is for all Apps. For example, if I drag 5 docs to word, only one opens, if I drag a bunch of rtfs to Text Edit, only one opens, if I drag a couple of psd files to Photoshop, only one opens, etc.
Maybe I messed up a finder setting I am unaware of.
Please help.

I'm having the same problem on two machines intermittently. Not all of the time, most of the time. Can't see any pattern to it.

Same problem here. Select multiple files (jpg, mov, wmv, pdf...) in the Finder, double-click or CMD-O and only one files loads in Preview or QuickTime Player (both 7 and X). Very annoying.

My daughter showed me this last night... she selected a bunch of graphics files and tried to open them. Only 2-5 opened and that's it. No amount of futzing corrected the problem. The problem is now being reported in the MacOSXHints forums also at this link: http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?s=6903600296a8d9c9a80e501a17fcaf91&p=549933#post549933
I tried to file a bug report and ADC rejected my login... it's one of those days.

So it seems to be a quarantine problem. Hm. On the other hand, Leopard had the same mechanism at hand and didn't prevent files from being loaded in Preview. The current behaviour in SL is crap.

I am getting the same problem. It appears isolated only to downloaded files (where OS X runssome quarantine rules), and I get erratic numbers of files opened: sometimes one, sometimes a few, but rarely all from a grouped selection. This is the case whether I double-click them or drag them to the relevant application-icon in the dock.
Also, it only seems to be happening with files that I've downloaded since upgrading to 10.6. And if I put other new files saved directly into the Downloads folder (i.e. not downloaded, just saved there as new files), then they open fine. Additionally, downloads that would not open as a group WILL open as a group if I trash them and then drag them back out of the trash.
Conclusion: this looks like it's closely related to 10.6's file quarantine processes.

I have the same problem dragging multiple PDFs to Combine PDFs. No problem in Leopard, but after SL, only a few of the files will be opened by the app. And most of these have been downloads, not original creations, and most (maybe all) were downloaded since my SL upgrade.

I had a similar problem deleting downloaded dmg's. I selected more than one, right-clicked, selected Move to Trash, and only the first one was deleted. Did it again, and all selected ones were deleted. Thought I was going crazy, now not so sure.

I thought 10.6.1 fixed this for me and I was quite happy for a bit, but it's returned now. No idea what made it work immediately after I loaded 10.6.1.

I've also experienced this problem sporadically, and I think that I have finally determined why it's happening when it does occur. It appears that, if the multiple files are files that were downloaded (say from the Internet or from email), then it will only recognize and open one of them at a time. However, if they were created on the computer or it has opened them before, it will allow you to open multiple files using drag and drop. This also appears to be the reason behind why each time you repeat the multiple file drag and drop, one more file opens up.
While it's not really a solution, it looks like if you open each file individually, you can then go back and open multiple files at the same time.
