Podcast Sorting Issue : OS 3.1

Let me start off by saying ... Grrrrrrrrrrr .....
I updated to iPhone OS 3.1 tonight and all my podcasts seem to show up in RANDOM order: they are no longer sorted by date.
Are there are settings that have changed? (I can't find them). Or is this a bug they introduced?

Hi,
I have the exact same problem with EVERY playlists that I sync with my iPhone 3G! It started with 3.1.
Anyone with the same problem as us?

This is becoming a rare moment where I am really frustrated with Apple for this glitch.
It has not been fixed with 3.1 and now any smart playlist with Podcasts is not even synched at all to the phone.
What gives ?!?!?!

I listen to a daily podcast that is in 4 parts, and this random sort order is very upsetting.

Just wanted to say I was having the same problem. I have a smart playlist that is "Date added is in the last 4 days", and "Media Kind is podcast." And then in iTunes, I sort the list by Date Added so the newest podcasts are on the top. This was syncing perfectly with that sort order.
Since yesterday with iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1, however, my list in iTunes is still fine, but on the iPhone the list is totally random.
EXTREMELY frustrating, as it throws off my whole routine of listening to the latest podcasts...now I have no idea which ones are new at a glance.

So what is the process here? Do we just vent until someone listens and discovers this nasty bug?
It would be nice to get some feed back from Apple, lets us know that they are aware of this mistake and it will be fixed is 3.1.1 (hopefully released soon!)

Bugs are always fun, right?
It also seems strange to me that it doesn't affect ALL my podcasts, only some of them. Also strange is that no matter how many times I resync it, the same "random" order comes up, like episodes 6, 9, 4, then 3 show up in that order each time. I've gone in and checked the files, everything is correctly dated and such, iTunes shows them in order. It's just weird, and hopefully Apple gets a 3.1.1 out soon, or at least some kind of hotfix. I've restored twice, both times from backups, only haven't tried a full clean restore yet. I might give that a shot in the next day or so, but if anyone else tries it before then and has some luck, let us know, ya hear? =)

I have the same problem.
How long will I have to endure before this gets fixed? Is there any way I can uninstall the latest update of the phone operating system short of doing a factory reset? This is a big problem for me.

-podcasts out of sync
-any new playlist added after the updates won't sync
-after I unplug from iTunes and go into the iPod on my phone I get a "Library updating this may take a few moments" screen. This happens each time I try to sync, and never happened before. Anyone else experiencing this?
So for a few minor features that were unnecessary I have a 3Gs that doesn't work they way it did at this time yesterday. Very dissapointed with the updates Apple...

I am seeing the same thing. However some of my podcasts appear to be sorting
correctly. The ones that sort correctly have a date out the the right side of the episode in grey lettering (Adam Carolla show for example). Inspecting the files using Get info in iTunes doesn't appear to show any differences in the metadata for the file so I don't know where this date is coming from or how to add it.

Yo tengo el mismo porblema que ustedes, al actualizar a iTunes 9 e iPhone 3.1 las listas de reproduccion se ordenan mal en mi iPhone y no respeta el orden que se tiene en iTunes lo cual es muy molesto.
Por ejemplo: en mi caso en iTunes tengo la lista de reproduccion de añadidas recientemente en orden de que se muestre la cancion añadida mas recientemente al principio y al sincronizar en mi iPhone la primer cancion de mi playlist es la mas antigua que se añadio y la cancion añadida mas recientemente aparece al final.
Nota: Sea cual sea el orden que tenga en iTunes, en el iPhone siempre es el mismo!
Creo que es un problema que no deberia presentarse a estas alturas y el avance que se tiene en el fiemware de iPhone, espero que Apple remedie pronto este bug.

I did find old versions of the iPhone firmware in my Mac's trash can, and moved them to a folder on my Mac. I found some instructions for restoring the old firmware here:

I decided not to go through with this however, since I didn't want to lose the data stored on my workout app.

I've seen all these problems in the last 16 hours - Podcasts are in random order, no content in the iPod section of my iPhone, delays in displaying my songs after I sync, etc. Looks like a big issue with 3.1. Hope Apple fixes it fast!
I did what Michael Mills2 suggested and reported the bug.
