I spent 2 hours on the phone with a techie from the US technical support (my call was 'rerouted"). We tried everything to fix this.

End result - I am getting me a new phone.

i am having the same issue all of my app icons show up as skype icons all the way down under the categories section but under the other ones such as top 25 they are all fine. i did call apple canada and they told me possibly a nation wide hardware issue but they are not sure yet but they took a pic of my phone from the screen and they are checking into things now. why they did not before i am not sure. if there is anyone else out there that does live in canada and is experiencing this problem i would suggest you phone apple canada and at least let them know the more calls about this problem the better the determination is on their end to get whatever it is fixed.

they said possibly it might be an app store issue in sync with itunes but they are having someone look at the situation at the same time.

if anyone else is having this problem please put it here.

Just another vote for the categories in the store being messed up. On Rogers in Canada, and it only happens when I'm logged into the canadian account, when I switch to a US account they all show up fine. Sounds like something is messed up on the Apple end for canadian accounts.

I have the same problem, and am on Rogers in Canada as well. I hear that apple is aware of this problem, but is it a firmware problem, or just some kind of server problem on apple's end?

Its the Apple servers... thats all it is. Not rogers or fido or your telecom provider. Its not even a 3.1 issue because i had the same issue prior to 3.1

Apple servers are messed up in canada ONLY. They are working on fixing the problem.

I'm having the same problem, Skype icon in every category and every category says "app store".

Hi,

I found a FIX for my APP Store. Not sure work for everyone, but here it is:

Go in Settings => App Store.
Change Location of server from Canada to United Stated. Agree to the term
Cancel right after. Reselect Canada and agree to the term and you should have your categorie back on.Work like charm after even after reboot.

Same problem here with an iPod Touch 2G running 3.1 in Calgary on the Canadian store!

No the problem may not Rogers. I have an iTouch and the same issue has arisen on this. It's been updated to 3.1.1. But the same issue is also on my wife's iTouch and hers has not been updated. I think the problem lies with Apple.

Thanks Starwolf73!! I've done exactly that and it works fine, even after reboot =)) Been looking for a solution to that problem for the past few days, thanks to you, it's back to normal.

Changing the store from Canada to the US, then back, per Starwolf73's suggestion didn't work for me on my two phones. Guess we have to wait...

Rogers and Fido 3GS's updated to 3.1.

Just to let you know i did not updated back to Canada as after cancel it back to canada automatically, using rogers, 3g. Works perfectly.

I have the same issue with my iPhone with 3.1 on a FIDO network. I agree that this is a Apple database issue and not a Fido/Rogers issue.

I've tried the Starwolf73 solution, it did not work.

I'm gonna call Apple tomorrow to let them know and to increase the pressure on them to find a solution.
