Sound Fading Problem after DVD burned

In iMovie6 i have 4 or 5 songs in the timeline which i fade out at the end before they go into the next song. when i play back and check the fading in iMovie 6 it sounds ok no problem, but after i burned the dvd the song fades out and comes back/gets loud for 1 second before the new songs starts. after the problem i did the same project in iMovie 5 and burned it with the new iDVD6 as well and the sound is perfect on the DVD. where is the problem in iMovie6? Thanks!

I noticed the same problem once I replayed an iMovie Project once burnt to DVD using iDVD 6 & iMovie HD 6. The sound fades as set manually on the waveform in iMovie but the next sound file is preceeded by a full volume clip, only briefly though, but very noticeable. When you play the same section of the iMovie Project in iMovie it plays fine with no full volume splice between the sound files

Hi there. I have spent about 5 days trying to figure what I was doing wrong. This never happened to me with 05. I thought it must be in the encoding and/or burning process. How do I uninstall iMovie 06 ? I guess after that I re-install iMovie 05 from the CD using "custom installation" and selecting iMovie only ?
Will iMovie 05 use my original iMovie project that I created in iMovie 06. I will remove the soundtracks but don't want to edit all the video again ??? Boy am I glad to find it is not just me .... thought I was losing it !

Had the same problem on export to a movie (i.e. not iDVD), but it always sounded OK previewing in IM. Couldn't solve the problem so ended up with the following workaround.
Lay down the tune on the audio track as normal and apply fade.
Export the movie to aiff under the expert settings of the QT option, making sure to check the 'export selected clips only' and having selected only the section where your tune is.
If you play the aiff you will notice the blip of sound is there after the fade (just as you described).
Trash the original tune you laid down and replace it with the aiff you have just made.
Place the playhead after the fade and before the blip and trim, trash the later part of the aiff.
Since the problem you are experiencing is after applying a fade, you will be OK, as you will no longer be applying a fade (it is already there).
Bit of work I know, but there isn't an alternative for me, I need to have my tunes fade.

Hi There schape,
Here are the files you need to remove then just use your iLife 05 or Install DVD that came with you Apple. Just install iMovie 5. iDVD 6 works fine with iMovie 5.
The work around using quicktime is useless to me, it takes too much time when some days I have 4 x DVD's to produce and each one takes an hour. Makes for a very late night already!
#1 Delete the iMovie Application from the Applications Folder on your Hard Drive. (that's the one that looks like a movie clickboard)
#2 Delete the following 2 files from your receipts Folder located in your Library Folder on your Hard Drive.
(1) iMovie.pkg
(2) iMovieThemes_Tiger.pkg
#3 Reinstall iMovie 5 using the custom install feature on your origional disk.

Winston Churchill- Good bloody grief! I've had to do some workaround in this damned iMovie 06- but that's rediculous. And creative!
I too have experienced these problems with fades- but I have been exporting to iPod.
This appears to be one of many bugs I'm afraid.
I don't want to return to iMovie 5 because I love the new themes. Crap.

Worked perfectly for me thank you. I did remove the soundtracks in my current project using iMovie 06 before uninstalling it. Then added and edited the soundtracks again using iMovie 05 before exporting to iDVD 06.
Absolutely spot on. However I must now keep an eye open for an iMovie 06 patch from Apple. It probably won't crop up in my auto updates, because I don't now have 06 installed.

And then there's a mayor bug in imovie
it looks to me like
apple is taking the microsoft way of releasing stuff.
Release the software and then see what kinda bugs users run into...
Don't missunderstand me

Butt i have seen this with more of my apple software
it always needs an fews updates before it work correctly

I made an 10 min. product presentation film using imovie 5 and spend a lot of time on it. Today I wanted to render a new version of the film because the customer wanted to change something. But I installed imovie 6 before and now the outputted quicktime movie had the same sound problems as discribed here and no hints or help on this at apple.com.

I do have the same problem with iMovie6. Fades don't work. I tried to do it your way and it worked fine but there were still some problems with the audio into my iMovie project. For example, I could cut away the blip of sound but when I selected a part of the movie with a iTunes song and wanted to do the same thing (converting to aiff) the result was that the sound got louder the last 20 seconds of the song (song=5 minutes). And there was no fade out only a overall reduce of level by 50%. I tried again and again but nothing worked. Even cutting the track into small pieces didn't work. This happend also with some other tracks.
So I exported the whole thing to garageband (without sound files) and putted the sound with fades into my movie. I exported to iDVD and made a disc image. That worked fine and the result was exactly like it was into garage band.
I think this is the fasted way to work at the moment. I hope apple will fix this
problem. I'm gone send a mail to apple so if everybody does the same thing. Together we are a little bit stronger...!!!
