AirPort connection to the Internet...

Hi,
Every couple of days my AirPort connection to the Internet, via my NAT router, fails to connect to the Internet. My status shows me as being connected to my local network just fine. My other computer (Windows XP) is able to connect to the Internet just fine and at all times via the same NAT router.
My ISP (AT&T) recycles my IP address every couples of days. Could this be related (dynamic IP)? If so, how do I avoid having to drop my AirPort connection and having to reestablish a new connection every couple of day, when my ISP recycles my IP address?
Thanks,
Amran

I have been battling this on and off for ages. I travel a lot and use hot-spots, friends wi-fi, etc. Sometimes (often) it looks as if I am connected, the internet connect signal is good, but I can't access the internet...
I have tried all the suggestions (order of connnections, etc.) but had no success. This really needs addressing.

Using a full length key solved the problem.

Did you ever resolve this?
My airport connection at home always works - using an airport base station and an airport express.
However, it seems to have stopped working at the local coffee shops even though I am clearly connected (4 bars) and have an IP address...
I am suspicious of Parallels which I am running

I know this is a pain, and not really a fix, but when I have that problem (and I have it quite often) I will open Internet Connect from the bottom of the AirPort status pull down on the menu bar. Then I turn off AirPort and turn it back on. Like I said not a fix but it gets you connected again.

Hey all. I had this same problem occur too, and after being on the phone with customer support for over an hour, we finally figured things out. My mac is all of 2 weeks old, and suddenly it stopped connecting to my wireless router. The problem was a Firmware Upgrade I had recently done. Even though the Mac worked for over a day WITH the new firmware upgrade, eventually it stopped working with it, and I had to revert to the old version. I have a Linksys WRT54G router and the PROBLEMATIC firmware was version 1.01.0, and I had to revert to 1.00.9. I doubt everyone here has the same router (undoubtedly some of you are using an actual Airport router), but perhaps this will help someone out. Mine works great once again.

This sounds disturbingly familiar. However, I'm having a bit of difficulty parsing out that firmware version. For what component is that firmware version relevant? AirPort?

I'm hoping you can help. I am new to Mac and would like to have a wireless connection. I own a desktop PC and would like to have both computers available at any time. I'm told I need a router and something else not even sure. Can you assist me on the components I need. What type of router? And do I need something else, like Airport? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,
I was able to solve my wifi issue by using a full length 64 hexadecimal characters for my WPA password. I've had no problems since. You can generate your own random password at the following URL:
https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm
For NAT routers that only support WEP, just use the first 40 bits generated by this page.

I run an iMac dual processor. I went approximately two months out of the box on this beauty when all of a sudden the machine quit connecting to the internet (WiFi). I discovered that if I ran a new Internet Diagnostics that it will connect right up. This may be similar to the reboot mentioned in this thread.
This is a "PAIN" of an option and I was wondering if the long hexadecimal solution listed in this thread would provide an answer for me. Not sure that they are the same issue (I'm new to mac) but it seems that it might be. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and a MacBook and had great difficulty hooking up a consistant wireless connection from a small office network through three thick and obliquely set walls to the house which is only about 30 feet away.
On Sunday I saw a review about Solwise Ethernet Homeplug Systems in Macworld. These work by transmitting signals through the domestic wiring system - you simply hook one 'plug' up to your router via an ethernet cable and stick it in the nearest three-pin electrical wall socket, and then plug a second unit into a wall socket in the space where you want access, hooking up your remote computer via a wireless transmitter unit.
Received the units today, plugged them in - and bingo, a solid 85mbps connection straight away. (Units available up to 200 Mbps). The Solwise website address is http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm
I hope this helps others as it has helped me and apologise if I have used the forum incorrectly with product names etc. I just found this a solution to an annoying problem that has been aggravating me for weeks. I have no connection with Solwise at all.

Actually folks, you need to check your laptops, and none of the posts thus far have addressed a possible solution that is likely.
Namely, the MacBookPro Airport wireless card fails periodically. I go to a university that has a wireless LAN active 24/7. Periodically on random days, the connection will be active (full bars) but there will be no active connection.
Sometimes rebooting, turning off Airport and reconnecting helps. Other times it does not. This issue has been brougt up on MacForums as well. Apple techs - WE NEED HELP.
By the way, is there a simple temporary solution to this, like wiping out your IP somewhere and letting it reset? In the options of Internet Connect under Airport, all you can do is choose which network to connect to.
