Brightness Flicker

Hi.
I had my MacBook for a couple of months, and it seems like the brightness of the screen changes. This happens especially when the machine just went out of sleep or something like that, and usually is much worse when the AC adapter is plugged in.
I concluded it has to do with power management.
I tried a PMU reset several times, and a PRAM reset. Didn't do no good.
I usually take it with me every day, and it probably has a pretty rough life. My question is though, does anyone have that problem besides me? And if you did have that problem, and you gave it back for a repair, does the problem come back after a while or what?

I have encountered the same issues. At times backlight goes completely for a moment and then returns to normal on its own. At first I thought it was in sleep mode but realized I could still see (barely) what was on the screen when the light dimmed.

I have this same problem and its driving me nuts! I called AppleCare and like usual were completely unhelpful.
It is worse when the computer is at full brightness, then power management dims the screen. The machine has been fine for the 2 months Ive had it but now this is starting and it seems to be getting worse.
Has anyone figured out a rememedy for this?!

Add me to the list. My screen is flickering crazily as I write this. The problem just began a couple of days ago after about 3 months of trouble-free usage...

The same for me - it started after almost 3 months of usage. Usually when starting up the machine, and the flicker is gone after the first 10 minutes of usage. PMU and PRAM reset does not help.

Same issue described and discussed here.
My macbook started flickering after 2 months and a half of problem free career.
I really hope that Apple will officially recognize this malfunction like random shutdown and plastic discoloration.
Seems to be the display inverter and I'm personally afraid the problem will get worse in the future.
But ... as it is now ... the problem is not easy to manage because it is completely random.
Apple please help us with this

I've just talked to a person on apple svc, and requested a repair. He told me that apple knows this problem, probably a mechanical problem on video ram. I'll let you know when I get my macbook back.

I'm sorry to hear that. If my blackbook ever develops that I am going to flip out. This princinple of apple to put design over functionality is just awful.

Add me to the list. I would like to take it to the Apple Store, but it appears randomly and I'm not sure I could replicate the problem once at the store.

Mine too! I was worried about replicating the problem at the store as well, so I took a video of it on my digital camera. So I'm just going to bring it with me when I take my MacBook in.
I just hope it lasts through my Finals for school...

Save your work, often. My Macbook is in repair now but a day before I started getting display kernel problems that shut it down unexpectedly.
Anyone reading this that is having the problem, get it fixed! It's not going away, software/firmware resets will not help. It is a hardware issue. If you want more info, just go read Engadget.

Watch it guys, this thread might be locked like the previous one!
*shakes head* why doesn't Apple admit there's some problems??
More on this at http://www.appledefects.com/?p=179
Only thing I can say is buy Applecare, and hope this doesn't reappear once your warranty is finished.
