|
itunes 7.0 abruptly quits after any song is played. i have tried reinstalling it twice without success. any ideas about the problem?

I'll second that. iTunes 7 crashes for me when changing tracks. It happens every single time.

Well, I hope someone can work this out, mine crashes randomly especially when changing songs, selecting a song from music store or selecting a playlist, which pretty much covers everything. HELP!

It abruptly quits for me as-well. I figured out that its only quitting when I have my iPod attached. It works fine when my iPod isn't plugged in, it even quits when I try to disconnect my iPod. This is most annoying!!!! NEED HELP!

Have you guys got any 3rd party plugins installed? take a look in:
HD/Library/iTunes/Plugin

I'll second that. iTunes 7 crashes for me when
changing tracks. It happens every single time.
My Macbook kernel panics on iTunes 7 every time I skip tracks, just like you reported. I had to re-install 6.0.5, which works perfectly by the way.
My Macpro runs iTunes 7 perfectly. I don't know if there is something peculiar about my Macbook or what...

I've checked and I have no plug-ins at all. I also tried every trick in the book (permissions, clean install, ect.). I even cloned my working version from the Macpro, and tried to run it off of an external drive. Guess what... kernel panics all the time. Something about my Macbook (software, hardware, or something else) does not agree with iTunes 7 at all.

I'm having the same problem with iTunes 7 quitting/crashing abruptly on my MacBook Pro 15". Re-installed and problem persists with different types of tracks played directly from MacBook Pro, or from iPod or via shared network Library based on my iMac G5.
Here's hoping a fix shows up soon,

I think I figured out one of the culprits. I have a new Macbook and my iTunes 7 would crap out randomly when changing tracks as well. I explored the preferences and turned off the Sound Enhancer and haven't had a crash since! Hopefully that helps you guys out!

Dude, you are a genius. Or at least a really patient person for living with all the crashes while you looked for that "Sound Enhancer" fix. I re-installed iTunes 7, and turned off that pesky Sound Enhancer, now its working fine.

Hi,
yeh the sound enhancer fix really does work, if any of you out there that read this are experiencing a crackling sound when playing Library music in iTunes 7; the fix is to turn off the "Sound Enhancer" feature and possibly your equalizer also needs to be turned off (Manual setting).

Hey,
I have iTunes for my windows and I did the sound enhancer off switch and everything but it still messes up... why? It happens only when I'm playing one of my games and it skips and everything.. think you could help me out?

I'm having the same problem. Since I upgraded to 7.0 iTunes will only stream my radio for about ten minutes at most and then the application either quits (most of the time) or stops responding or sends my computer into kernal panic (twice). It has crashed around 15 times now and I give up.
I checked all of my permissions and they were fine and I also ran disk utility and the disk is fine and I also reinstalled 7.0
Do not install iTunes 7.0. It seems full of bugs. What a mess. I've been using macs for 18 years now and this iTunes 7 is junk.

I tried the sound enhancer "fix" and iTunes still quits after only a couple of minutes.

C'mon Apple!!! There have been so many problems iTunes and you haven't (won't) acknowledge them.
My iTunes doesn't "always" crash when I'm just listening to music, but I cannot access the iTunes store AT ALL. It comes up with that "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer" and shuts down.
On top of iTunes abruptly quitting for me I can't update to the 1.2 software.
