20" Apple Cinema Display Backlight error

Looks like my (old school) display has finally bitten the dust. I'm getting the backlight error flashes and/or problem with the inverter. My question is - is it worth it to have Apple fix it or should I just purchase a new display. Not sure how much it would cost to fix, but I'm sure it wouldn't be any less than $300. Hope I'm wrong.
