Xserve Changing IP Addresss

I have an old Xserve used purely for files and images. It has an existing static IP address on one of the 2 internal Ethernet cards, i.e. 217.xx.xxx.xx. Used to work fine and had connection to this server from all over the world when travelling.
Problem is that I have changed the ISP who provided me with this IP address and now have another IP address, 135.xxx.xx.xx. I can't change the existing one, as when I do I lose all connections to the server, even from work.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
JJ

Thanks. It seems to be a lengthy process. I will try it later and see where I get. I assumed it would be a simple case of just changing the settings in network preferences and bingo I would be off and running.

JesJetUK-
I went through exactly the same thought process as you.
I thought it would be easy, then tried it and it didn't work, then thought it would be apain but once I found the documentation and did it was a piece of cake!
If you have no command-line interface experience it will be tougher but no time like the present to learn. Go to the manuals section and search for "OSX Server Command Line Interface" or something like that there you will find a manual that covers the process in detail.

Still struggling. Can't get my head around Command Line instructions. Will keep you informed.
As a work around I changed the main IP address and this gives me internet access from server out, but no access in.

JesJetUK-
If you weren't raised on a steady diet of it, the CLI can be tough.
When changing ip addresses and other such things I prefer to shut the server completely off and then back on again. For some reason things always seem to work out better than just a reset.

Help.
I am useless on Terminal.
I can connect to the server at work using an external connection. e.g. server secondary IP is 195.xx.xx.xxx and I use 212.xx.xx.xxx to connect. No problem.
But from home I cannot connect at all. I have 80.xxx.xxx.xxx IP.
Should I reinstall the software on the server and then change IP settings, maybe even upgrade?

JesJetUK-
You could certainly start from scratch with the server and reinstall the software like it was a new install.

changeip is not available for Xserve 10.2,, or is it?
I looked everywhere because in the documentation for next gen 10.3 onwards this ounds the perfect solution.

Great news. I found this very helpful and very very easy.

Exactly what I was looking for. All done in 3 minutes, I am going to go away and learn Terminal Commands.
Many thanks for all advise given here.
