Did Apple STOP MAKING iSight Cameras??? They're on eBay for $250+ !!!

Does anyone know what's up? I've given up on calling Apple. No retailer on the web has them either! I know this isn't a tech question but I am trying to get an iChat system going with someone who has a built in cam...

they have been apparntly discontinued. they will HAVE to make more because of their stupid (and purposeful) decision to make it difficult to use USB cameras. they force us to buy isights, which are the best cams on the market, and then they stop making them because of the hazarous materials inside...
they havent made any official announcements about the discontining either...

Options
Any Firewire DV output (6 pin to 6pin) Camcorder
Any Firewire Web cam
Any USB cam that has Mac drivers and this Utility http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/
The chances are that any USB cam is going to have Windows drivers (if you need them for a Intel)

Hazardous materials? As far as I know, some products were discontinued in Europe because they contained the following materials that apparently were in Apple products:
• lead
• mercury
• cadmium
• hexavalent chromium
• polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs)
• polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs).
Which one of these were in the iSight camera?

I know I can hook up any mini DV cam. I actually hooked one up to test
iChat but I plan to go on the road with a laptop. I called apple again and
got a vague answer about the hazardous materials.
The guy I spoke to said he had no information at all and no news about
a wireless replacement or any alternative by a third party. He asked me
if I knew about wikipedia, then said I should read what it says about
the iSight.
I don't care about mercury I just want an iSight because they produce
a better image than any other cam to date. Anyone have a suggestion
for a third party cam?

My iSight worked with my PowerBook...I rarely used it...I have a MacBook Pro now...it won't focus. I hear it TRYING to focus...but just doesn't do it. Suggestions? Apple doesn't repair these...will ANYONE...or should I just try to get some child to eat the lead solder?
