Can't find notwork after wake up from sleep mode

Hi,
This problem started to happen after installing the security update from Apple, I started to notice that my airpot card can't automatically find the network if the computer wakes up from sleep so I have always to restart or to reset the base station to be found, also sometimes if I open the Airport Admin I don't find my network in the list there so I have to reset and restart.
Any idea why or what's goin' on?
Thanks for your help

Ditto for me. Works fine upon restart, but Airport card can't see any networks after waking up. The only solution I've come up with is to restart.
It's really quite annoying. Some help would be appreciated.

Ditto. A friend called me last night to help her fix this problem but I couldn't. I'm baffled.

I think we should contact Apple support for this as I see lots of people share the same problem

Count another "metoo"
I've had this problem on OS X 10.3.9 on a 700mhz iBook G3 with original (non-extreme) airport card.
I'm also thinking it was the security update; it was recently installed.

Yup, me too. I installed the security update about two hours ago and got the same symptom as soon as my iBook went to sleep. Once I tried logging off but only restarting restores the Airport connection. And I have old equipment-original Airport card and snow base station. Next I'm going to try repairing permissions and see it that does anything.

Okay, got it fixed, it seems. Following this thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=935005&tstart=0
But that didn't seem to work. I kept getting messages that the .kext files were not installed properly when I moved them back into the Extensions folder. I then downloaded and reinstalled the security update and everything is now golden.
I started out with the following files:
AppleAirPort.kext
AppleAirPort2.kext
AppleAirPortFW.kext
Now, the *FW.kext file is gone. I suspect that was the culprit.
Hope this helps everyone out there!

This worked for me. I had two conflicting files in the extensions folder. AppleAirPort.kext and AppleAirPort2.kext. I trashed AppleAirPort2.kext and restarted. Now my iBook can sleep in safety.
I do think the security update is the culprit and I don't know if trashing this file has an impact on security. But it least the sleeping nuisance is no more.

Well thanks for all of you, I trashed the AppleAirPort2.kext from the Extensions folder then ran software update, it found and installed a driver for the airport express then ran it again after restart and it found the new security update 005 and now I mean up to now all is fine.
So finally Apple also found it, I'm amazed that we knew it first
Thanks again

Well this worked for me I believe the last time and it worked again this time.
Of course I had forgotten how until I found MacInTouch
http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/security/#apr25
I deleted the Library (Top Level/Shared not User) -> Keychain -> System.keychain
This is where your airport login info is stored and apparently got corrupted due to this update. I trashed it (required admin password) and it looks like I'm in the clear now...able to sleep, wake, and reconnect. Before I'd get disconnected until I restarted.

My bad. It turned out the System.keychain was not the culprit...(must not have waited long enough for a full sleep...seeing the flashing light was not enough). I killed the AppleAirport2.kext and that did the trick. Sorry I doubted what I've been reading (just didn't remember doing so the last time I had this problem).

I had the same problem after installing the new security update - Airport not connecting after waking from sleep. I did exactly what Robert did and the problem is gone. Thanks, Robert. Vive la Apple Discussions!
