I believe I am having the same problem, too. No pressure, no heat... always nice and tidy! Strongest example in the lower left corner of the screen, but the major quantity is in the centre of it. When I have time, I'll take it to the seller (no Apple physical stores here in Portugal) to see if this is new or if there have been more complaints about this issue. (By the way, this is recent - 1 month or so - and my MBP is 15 months old).

Hi,

I also have this problem. My MBP is 13 month old and I have Apple Care. One concentrated spot about 3mm appeared after just a month or so, then the second, large smuge, a couple of months later, then a third, and now a fourth. I'm planning to take my computer to Apple in a couple of weeks when I take off from work for a bit. I'll send an update with my experience.

Hi my 15inch 2.16GH mac book pro (i think it was from the first macbook pro range released) has this same problem. It started about a year into my use. My computer had definitely not suffered any traumd and over time these spots have just increased in number. Some are up to 2mm long. Mine mostly appear down where the dock is and started moving up slightly from there.

When i look closely at them some almost look like little dust particles...not sure if that is even possible. I also keep my mac book pro very clean, so IF it is dust getting behind the screen then there must be a fault in the screen. But then, some of the spots look NOTHING like dust particles. So i am really at a loss...!!

I have a 15" first generation MacBook Pro which has been suffering from these grey/black spots for about a year now. They have built up more and more over time, it has now become very frustrating to use the computer for graphics work. I have Apple Care and contacted them via phone about this issue, the "Product Specialist" was somewhat rude about the issue, saying he had never heard of such a thing. He finally offered to let me mail it in to their depot (No Apple Store anywhere near) so they can determine if AppleCare will cover it. If they refuse to cover it I will be fairly upset, this is an issue that they need to recognize.

I'm also having the same issue with a 15 month old Macbook Pro with a 15" glossy screen. I thought the spots were smudges so I tried using Monster display cleaner. Then I figured the iKlear stuff they sell at the Apple stores would work. After no success, I did a search and came upon this issue on the forums. I have the extended Applecare warranty, but I'm debating as to whether or not to visit an Apple store. How long would I have to go without my laptop? I've been recommending Macs and now I feel somewhat disappointed. My old Dell laptops never had this problem.

Sorry I unfortunately deleted the first part of my message in my first reply so this is how my reply starts:

I have a 17" MBP and 5 month ago I had the same problems. 5 grey"clouds" on the screen. The people at Apple changed the screen (it's a business laptop and has Apple Care warranty). Now after 5 month with my new screen a new "cloud" appeared. I own laptops from Apple since 1991 (Powerbook 100) and changed them every 3 rd year. My previous one was a G4 17" and no problems. I use this machine as professional in Video and Audio and treat the laptop carefully. So the conclusion after so many years with Apple laptops is that the guys at Apple do not produce quality these days but quantity.
