iPhone OS 3.1 App Store Glitch

On the phone with apple right know. A specialist is reading this thread. Looking for a solution. Will edit this post when they find something.

EDIT: after a restore, the skype icon is gone but the category titles still say app store and when clicked, they bring me to the featured section.

Same on my 3gs. Happened the day before 3.1 upgrade was available. For a few days I could get the correct icons by switching to wifi. Now same as others with Skype icon. The day before this happened, I downloaded the craigspro app and it's icon changed to a Kayak icon that I also had on my phone. I deleted the app, reinstaled and all is good on that issue. Relative to common complaint??

If you have a balance a store credit balance it will not let you switch locations until you spend the balance. Waiting for the fix.

Same with rentals. If you have any rentals on your account (even if they're on other machines or an Apple TV) you can't switch locations.

Switching your location and changing it back again doesn't fix it anyway. It only SEEMS to work, until you go into the appstore on your iPhone only to find out even if you had set your country to "US", then back to "Canada" like the prior "fix", it don't work.

For example, I did the "fix" like posted here before e.g. changing your country to u.s. then changing it back to canada in settings...It seemed to work until I went back into the appstore on the iphone, and tried downloading a free app. seems it was going into the u.s. store, although my setting said it was canada, so I went back into the settings, set it to canada again, and this time accepted the agreement thingy. And voila...the categories in appstore are all messed up again, so that fix doesn't actually work.

Apple, get your crap together and fix this, the bugs lately from your company are getting absolutely ridiculous. Non-stop buggy iPhone software and hardware, buggy snow leopard, and useless "iFart" apps, etc. Don't even get me started on MobileMe...What's happened to Apple lately? They used to stand for quality, not endless problems and bugs.

Everyone here in this forum spend a **** of alot of money for your products, and having endless bugs and problems like this is getting absolutely unacceptable.

Well I am on an iPod Touch and am having the same problem so don't blame it on our "poor" Canadian networks... Wanker!

Mine finally seems to be fixed. My categories are now working as expected.

It did not try any of the fixes listed in this thread, so I am assuming Apple has solved this issue on their end.

Categories fixed on my end (3G). Hopefully it's not a temp fix.

It was fixed once my app was updated!

Fixed here too. I noticed that categories are listed alphabetically now.

FINALY!!
They fix it, but it took a couple of time to get it. look like there a load balancer behind and the sync is not instant.
So if you still don't have your categorie, exit App Store and restart it, it took me 2 or 3 time and now seem to be permanent without any dancing wizard around the Iphone.


Geeee hope they fix there infrastructure and did a backup. My cie will have fire me long time ago if it was there store down a full week.

At least one thing is fix know. Hope Iphone Firmware 3.1.1 coming on Sept 25,2009 will fix some behaviors of BetaWare Iphone 3.1.

Apple surely lost confidence for Business product. We were looking at it and this totally wash out the work we did to promote it and so my confidence.

Unfortunatly, Iphone still a toys until Apple really change in minds.

PS: Suprising that in POST Message Reply, even Iphone OS 3.1 is not there. Look like they were RUSH to push it...... is Brother AT&T behind?

For Frack sakes......I went on about noon in Vancouver and the "Skype" categories returned. Now they are gone........***?

Hi guys! I had the same problem! So i tried to restore my iphone without backing it up ( just to get rid of the email autofill up) and it works. Hope this could help!

I know I got up this morning at 6:30a.m. and my categories had been restored. When I finished work at 3:00p.m. they were screwed up again.

This is driving me nuts. Of course, it's more of an annoyance than anything else. I'm guessing that Apple is not considering this a priority, since the phone is still, for all intents and purposes, operational.
