This might be a stupid question but when I attempted to use my iPhone earbuds with the iPad they didn't work at all. Are there specific new earbuds or headphones reuqired for the iPad?
Thank you.
They should. I have used both the buds that come with my iPhone and the buds I normally use for listening to my music and both have been perfect. You might want to check that your buds actually work and that you plugged them all the way into the iPad.
1. make sure the connection is firm as it may be just the last little bit that isnt connected yet
2. try another set of headphones
3. try your headphones on another devices
as far as compatibility nope, standard headphone connector works
yeah my audio jack is also pretty tight, after you press it in it "clicks." Even removal of the audio plug takes more force than an ipod. Does it loosen over time?
How do you then control volume? I've tried both earbuds and a headset lacking its own volume control. Vido plays, but cannot adjust volume with rocker switch on the side. What am I missing?
Only issue is adjusting volume when audio-out is plugged into the jack on back of Apple's iPad dock. No volume control that I can figure out, either from rocker switch or from mini control panel on screen. Works fine if plugged into audio-out at top of iPad.
One guesses assumption that the dock audio-out would be feeding a full-scale speaker system with its own volume control. Guess. Ain't no big deal, but puzzling glitch.
I thought the same at first, but with a firm extra push I am able to use all earbuds that I use with my ipod with my ipad. Across the board, I think we just have to be a bit heavier handed with all of the peripheral port connections.
